It is the acting cause, because that is the nature or essence of the cause. Therefore, the remaining causes are also the nature of the acting cause, but since the acting causes that are not included in them are distinguished separately, the acting cause is pointed out separately. The detailed classification of the acting cause is: arising place, support, clear, change, separation, transformation, belief, belief maker and attainment, name, dependence and throwing, accomplishment, holding, exhaustion, separate determination, co-acting and discordant, concordant, twenty acting causes are briefly shown. This is the verse of the summary. Among them, the collection of causes and conditions of the six consciousnesses, such as objects, faculties, and attention, are the acting cause of arising, because they cause the fruit, namely consciousness, to arise. For example, in this way, whatever causes and conditions that cause an unarisen fruit to arise should be clearly regarded as the acting cause of arising. The four foods are the acting cause of abiding for all beings who have already been united with the five types of sentient beings and who dwell in the intermediate state of seeking beings, because they keep the already born continuum uninterrupted. The great earth is the acting cause of support for moving and non-moving beings, because it prevents them from falling completely. The lamp is the acting cause of brightness for forms in dark places, because it makes the object of self-grasping consciousness clear. Fire is the acting cause of the transformation of firewood, because it transforms the lineage of firewood into other forms such as charcoal. The sickle is the acting cause of separation for grass and straw that are to be harvested, because it cuts off the connection between them. Goldsmiths and others who are skilled in crafts are the acting cause of the transformation of gold and silver, because they transform gold nuggets into different parts such as bracelets and necklaces. Smoke is the acting cause of belief in hidden fire, because hidden fire can be inferred from it.

Yes. Vows, reasons, and examples are the means of making one believe in the establishment of what is to be proven, which is the object of the opponent's intention, because by relying on them, the truth of what is to be proven is determined. The former is in terms of meaning, and the latter is in terms of the expression of the argument. The noble path is the means of attaining nirvana, because it enables the attainment of nirvana. The consciousness that sees and completely determines the unique characteristics of things such as bloating, and the names that follow, such as "pot," are the means of applying names to things, because by relying on them, names are subsequently applied. Hunger is the means of dependence on food, because depending on hunger, the act of seeking food arises. Ignorance is the cause that projects aging and death. Because it is its distant condition, because what arises from its cause, arising in a continuous stream from one state to another, is what projects. Ignorance is the means of the manifestation of actions, because it is the cause of arising immediately after. Fields, water, fertilizer, and other conditions different from the seed are the means of fully sustaining the crop, because they make that seed capable of producing the fruit crop. Well relying on the king, etc., through serving with body and speech, etc., is the cause of making one a member of the king's family and retinue, because it is the favorable condition that pleases the king. The various different conditions that cause the five types of beings to generate their respective similar kinds are the means of determining the respective natures of the five types of beings, because they are the various dominant conditions that cause each to generate its own category. Undamaged eye faculty, the appearance of the object form, and the presence of attention nearby are the co-operative means for generating eye consciousness, they are its conditions.

The assembled body produces its own fruit because it does not depend on other conditions. Hail and the like are unfavorable factors for crops because they hinder their growth. The absence of hail and the like that hinder growth is a non-unfavorable factor for crops because they do not hinder the growth of crops. The elements such as earth are the cause of co-arising with the forms that are derivatives co-arising with themselves, and also among the elements of the same aggregate, because if there are other elements such as earth co-arising with themselves as helpers, then the elements co-arising with themselves and the dharmas arising from the elements will arise, but if any one of them is not a helper, they will not arise. Therefore, only the elements are the cause of co-arising of the elements co-arising with themselves and the derivatives, but not the forms arising from the elements, because even if the derivative forms are transferred to another place, the elements can still be observed. Elements and derivatives are only examples, and it should be understood that even mind and mental factors will not arise if any one of them is missing. Thus, since assembling is the cause of co-arising, there is no point in separately mentioning the corresponding cause. If you think so, there is no fault, because there is an additional function by bringing each other closer in recognizing the object. Mind and mental factors, whose bases and objects are the same, are the cause of co-cognition or correspondence, because if which mind and mental factors are helpers, both the helper and the helped will co-cognize the object, and if any one is missing, they will not cognize. The virtues such as faith that have been previously practiced, the non-virtues such as desire, and the unspecified dharmas such as crafts and conduct, these are through the power of cultivation, in the end, the virtues and so on will increase more and more, and after that, they will increase supremely.
