The state of accomplishment is limited to this extent. Like this, initially, the accomplishment of the self-nature of name and form, etc., is birth. After accomplishment, the transformation into different states is aging, and ultimately, cessation is death. Among these, the limbs that propel and the limbs that are propelled are the cause and effect of the states of cause, etc. The limbs that accomplish and the limbs that are accomplished are the cause and effect of the state of the complete ripening of the fruit. Thus, cause and effect are definitely twofold. Why are craving and grasping, etc., not limbs that propel? Because they do not arise at the time of karma, etc. Why are birth and death not limbs that are propelled? Because they are merely states of name and form, etc., and therefore, there is no seed of birth and death in them, etc. Why are ignorance, etc., not limbs that accomplish? Because at the time when the fruit is accomplished, they have ceased and no longer exist closely. Why are name and form, etc., not the fruit that is accomplished? Because the fault of the state in which name and form, etc., are manifestly clear is what is designated as the fruit that is accomplished, and name and form, etc., are the basis that possesses that fault. These are also as stated in the Sutra on Dependent Arising: "By what is propelled and how is it propelled, the accomplisher of that, in that also, whatever faults there are, all of those are shown by the twelve limbs." Fourth, the establishment of the limbs as conditions: In the Yogacarabhumi, if asked, by what condition does ignorance become the condition for formations, etc.? For those with form, it becomes a condition by the dominant condition. For those without form, it becomes a condition only by these three conditions: immediate condition, objective condition, and dominant condition. The remaining limbs should be regarded as conditions according to their respective circumstances. That is, for those with form, for those with form, only by the single dominant condition. For those without form, by the objective condition and the dominant condition, these two conditions. Those without form

Those are: For forms, there is only one condition. For formless things, there are three conditions for formless things: immediate condition, objective condition, and dominant condition. Why are these limbs not conditioned by the causal condition? Because the causal condition is distinguished by its own seed. If it is not conditioned by the causal condition, why is dependent origination taught as the relationship of cause and effect? Because it is spoken in terms of the cause of attraction, the cause of projection, and the cause of manifestation and accomplishment, which are included by the dominant condition. It is said that in the Summary of the Great Vehicle, what condition should be said for the second limb of dependent origination? Answer: It is the dominant condition. It is said. Here it is said that the previous limbs create four conditions for the subsequent limbs as appropriate. For example, ignorance is the causal condition of actions, because the actions arising from the mindstream imbued with the habits of ignorance cause existence to manifest again. It acts as an immediate condition because the subsequent actions of the power of ignorance arise continuously. It acts as an objective condition because, in times of delusion, it takes what is excellent and so on as objects in an inappropriate way. It acts as a dominant condition because, by its power, the mind and mental factors that arise simultaneously with it are reversed in their focus on the object. This is also spoken in terms of formless action. For forms, in addition to the objective condition and the immediate condition, combine them as appropriate. The remaining limbs should also be combined as appropriate. In the three treatises such as the Yogacarabhumi, what is the difference in the way the conditions are established? There is no contradiction, because it is said that the previous limbs are definitely the dominant condition of the subsequent limbs, so in the Summary of the Great Vehicle, only the dominant condition is mentioned. Because it is also possible to act as other conditions, three and four conditions are established here and in the Yogacarabhumi. That is also the seed of the alaya consciousness, the ultimate cause and condition.
