Furthermore, some matters of seeing and hearing also become the objects of a yogi's divine eye and ear. Therefore, the terms "correct" and "incorrect" with these as objects are mentioned as objects of terms because of their great benefit and harm, as previously stated. The objects of the remaining three senses are perceived only after being contacted by their respective senses. Therefore, there is no distinction between yogis and ordinary people in terms of realization and non-realization. Thus, the terms "correct" and "incorrect" for their objects are not mentioned as objects of terms because of their small benefit and harm. In short, regarding the meaning of what is said as "realization," in order to eliminate the Sarvastivadins' assertion that the three—smell, taste, and touch—are unspecified and therefore weak, they are grouped together as "realization," here the meaning of "realization" is said to be differentiation, because the consciousnesses of the nose, tongue, and body can differentiate. In this way, the objects of the terms "correct" and "incorrect" become two: the objects of sense consciousness and mind consciousness. The first, the first is two, and the second also has two objects: the consciousness of hearing, thinking, and the consciousness born of meditation, which are in turn the meanings of differentiation and complete understanding. Among the objects of mind consciousness, only the objects known through hearing, thinking, and meditation are said to be the objects of terms, because possessing and not possessing the three correct consciousnesses of hearing, thinking, and meditation distinguishes people into superior and other categories. Therefore, the terms "correct" and "incorrect" for their objects are also because of their great benefit and harm. The fourth question is about the characteristics of the aggregate of formations, namely, "all formations," etc. The word "all" indicates that there are many. The brief answer is "the characteristic of manifest formation." If asked what is done, to what object, by what means, and how is it formed? The detailed explanation is "introduction," etc. The object refers to virtuous dharmas such as faith, non-virtuous dharmas such as attachment, and unspecified dharmas that are neither, and various situations such as pleasure and pain. What is done is the mind that merely knows the nature of those objects. The agent is the mind's manifestation to the object.

Then, what is the nature of mind that makes mind manifest its function? Isn't there any fabrication other than mind? Why is it that only the manifestation of mind is established as fabrication? This is established for two necessities. For example, in order to eliminate the doubt that there is a "self" in the agent who engages in actions such as virtue and non-virtue, and to show that mind is the main thing in all defiled and purified dharmas. Other mental events also make the mind manifest its function, but only the mind is established here, because the mind is the main thing. Because making the mind move towards the object is the unique function of the mind, and the movement of the mind towards the object itself is the meaning of the mind's manifestation. Other mental events do not make the mind move towards the object, because they have their own unique functions different from this. Moreover, mind and other mental events cannot be distinguished in terms of function, otherwise there would be a fault. In making the mind move towards the object, aren't the object, sense faculty, attention, etc. also the main things? Why is only the mind the main thing? For example, if there is a magnet, then the iron that is compatible with the magnet will move involuntarily. Similarly, if there is mind, then the mental events that correspond to the mind will surely move towards the object and manifest, but the object, sense faculty, attention, etc. are only close conditions, and cannot make the mind move towards the object. Because sometimes even if these are apprehended, it is seen that the mind does not arise. Furthermore, the object, sense faculty, etc. are only methods to make the unarisen mind arise, and they act on the future mind, while manifestation acts on the arisen mind to turn it towards the object, and acts on the present mind. Therefore, the object, sense faculty, etc. are not suitable as the cause of the mind's manifestation. If it is said that making the mind move towards the object is the meaning of the mind's manifestation, and this is also the function of the mind alone, then other mental events do not have this nature, wouldn't they become non-fabrication? There is no such fault, because other mental events, although they cannot independently make the mind move towards the object, can also do that through being the mind's companion.
