Apart from afflictions, those actions of body and speech that are aroused by afflictions and near afflictions, which are practiced in desire other than that, are intense evils, or because they are born with the nature of being blameworthy like poison, they are called inherently unwholesome. The three, such as related unwholesomeness, are easy to understand. Among them, actions of body and speech are of two types: revealing and non-revealing. Moreover, the non-revealing, which has the characteristics mentioned earlier, is the characteristic of related virtue and non-virtue, but not the revealing ones. Because to consider material things such as form and sound as virtuous or non-virtuous is not the son of Shakya, as has been said before. The mind symbolized by the revealing actions of body and speech, whether virtuous or non-virtuous, is called non-revealing. In order to lead and restrain those to be tamed, the result of those revealing actions of body and speech is also approximately called virtuous or non-virtuous, as explained from the reasoning of proof. Ultimate non-virtue is all contaminated things included in samsara. This is because, in the eyes of the noble ones, these things are seen as being entirely of a blameworthy nature. This, like ultimate virtue and the suffering of conditioning, is merely an establishment in accordance with the views of the noble ones, but it is not to be established as a characteristic of non-virtue in conventional terms, because that would entail that there is no virtue or happiness whatsoever in samsara. Innately acquired non-virtue refers to those non-virtuous non-dharmas, which, due to the power of previous habituation, mature in this life as the nature of a body that universally engages in non-virtue. Once that body is manifestly established, it wants to naturally and indiscriminately engage in those very non-virtues, and therefore it is universally present, like the cruel mind of meat-eaters. Non-virtue arising from application refers to relying on external conditions, such as non-noble persons, non-virtuous friends, etc., and non-dharma, such as violence as dharma.
