Becoming the cause of strife is because the seeds of desire's afflictions continue uninterruptedly, therefore, it should be regarded as related to strife. Thus, the nature of strife is the afflictions of desire and the near afflictions. Related to it are the mind and mental factors that correspond to these afflictions and possess the same nature. Bound by it are also the virtuous deeds performed in the desire realm, and related to it are all the contaminated dharmas of the two upper realms. What increases and accords with it are all the dharmas of the desire realm. Arising from its cause are the aggregates, realms, and sources included in the fruition of the desire realm. By knowing that the dharma related to strife is merely dharma, one abandons attachment to self. Non-strife is the opposite of what was previously said about strife, and what is unrelated to strife and the six doors is non-strife. Among them, what is not the nature of strife is the dharmas other than the afflictions of desire and the near afflictions. Unrelated to it are the dharmas that do not correspond to these afflictions. Not bound by it are also the virtuous deeds of the upper realms and the virtuous deeds of non-contamination. What does not increase and accord with it are all the upper realm dharmas and non-contaminated dharmas. Not arising from the cause of strife are also these dharmas. Whose seeds do not continue are the aggregates of the Arhats. As many uncontaminated things as there are, so many non-strife things there are. This is in reference to being unrelated to both contamination and strife, and to any of the six doors. Related to defilement is what one relies on to generate attachment to the body of rebirth, that is, to the five aggregates of grasping. These three, namely desire, etc., are called defilement, and whatever is related to the nature of these defilements, etc., through the six doors is called related to defilement. Regarding its nature, etc., it is explained as before with contamination. Is hatred not an unpleasant aspect? Why is it said that it generates attachment? Because hatred is directed towards pure dharma, it leads to greater attachment to samsara. Non-defilement is the opposite of defilement, and what is unrelated to these defilements and any of the six doors is non-defilement. The rest is easy to understand.

Clinging-support is, what is relied upon to become particularly attached to the five desirable qualities such as form and sound, this attachment and so on is clinging-support. For what, those are related by the six doors such as its own nature, that is clinging-support. With what kind of hatred is there attachment to it? It is with hatred towards manifestation. Its own nature and so on are explained as with strife. Both clinging-support and strife are actually the three poisons of desire, therefore, as much as there is with contamination, clinging-support is also obtained from that. If one knows that attachment to the five desirable qualities is merely dharma, then one abandons the manifest clinging to self. Manifestation-arising-support is the opposite of clinging-support, that is, it is not related to the cause of attachment to desirable qualities, the three poisons and the six doors, that is manifestation-arising-support. The non-self-nature of clinging-support and so on is explained as without strife. Among them, the clinging-support that corresponds to the actual clinging to desirable qualities is all the dharmas practiced in the desire realm. The clinging-support that corresponds to the seed of clinging is also the two upper realms. The manifestation-arising-support that is separated from manifest clinging is the two upper realms. The manifestation-arising-support that is separated from the seed of clinging is only the uncontaminated ones. This method should also be observed for those with and without strife. Because it is based on the manifestation-arising-support that is separated from the seed of clinging, it is said that as much as there is without contamination. If one knows that being separated from clinging is merely dharma, then one abandons clinging to self. Conditioned is, for what, the birth that initially arises newly without previously existing, the cessation that ultimately cuts off the continuum, the abiding that exists in the middle with the continuum following, and the phenomenon of transformation from the previous moment being different from the later, because it relies on causes and conditions, it is called conditioned. A part of the realm of dharma and the sources of arising are the unconditioned abandonments. If one knows that the impermanent conditioned that relies on causes and conditions is merely dharma, then one abandons clinging to self. Among them, the Vaibhashikas believe that each moment of phenomena completely possesses all four characteristics, otherwise it would become unconditioned.
