It should be known that this also applies to things like unobstructedness. If reality and imputation are not distinguished, then everything is so. But if they are distinguished, then they should be applied as appropriate. Only those things included in the form of the dharma-sphere, the name aggregate, and the unconditioned are unobstructed. If one knows that unobstructedness is merely dharma, then one abandons the manifest clinging to unobstructedness as being entirely in the self. When dividing into twelve categories such as contaminated, first, contamination refers to afflictions such as desire. These are called contaminations because they flow and drip onto objects from the wounds of the six sense sources. Such contaminations are established with six doors. Thus, afflictions and near afflictions are the nature of those contaminations, so they are established as contaminated, not because the contaminations are related to other things. Those minds and mental factors that are concordant with them, and the material sense faculties that are their basis, are contaminated because they are related to those contaminations. The virtues of childish beings are bound by contaminations because they accomplish rebirth through the power of ignorance and the view of self. For childish beings on higher grounds, the seeds of the contaminations of lower grounds are also subsequently connected. Those who do not turn their backs on existence are in accordance with the increase of contaminations. The ripened aggregates of arhats are regarded as contaminated because they arise from the cause of previous contaminations. Among them, those who are in accordance with the factors of definite discrimination, even if they possess the bad karma of contamination, are not in accordance with the increase of contamination because they have turned their backs on existence and are the antidote to contamination. The first fifteen realms and twelve sources, and the last three realms and a portion of the two sources, along with the truth of the path and its retinue, and everything except the unconditioned, are regarded as contaminated because they are related to contamination through any of the six doors just mentioned. Knowing that contamination and what is contaminated are merely dharma abandons clinging to self. That which is the opposite of being related to the six doors that establish contamination as described above is uncontaminated.

Therefore, explaining "the meaning of cessation is the nature of non-outflow" and so on, is not the meaning of cessation. As explained earlier regarding non-form, everything except afflictions is included. Unrelated to outflows means everything that is not the place of outflows and their associates. Not bound by outflows refers to the actions of body and speech of the Arhats. The seeds of outflows not following are also the sources of birth of the Arhats. Not in accordance with the increase of outflows refers to things that turn their backs on existence, such as those in accordance with the parts of discernment. Not arising from the cause of outflows refers to the aggregates of morality and concentration, and so on. Thus, being unrelated to any one of these six gates of outflows is nominally non-outflow, but it is not non-outflow in all respects. That which is separated from all six gates of outflows is solely non-outflow in all respects. The five aggregates without grasping are the aggregate of form without outflows, and so on. These should be appropriately combined with the discipline of non-outflows, and with the mind and mental factors of the supramundane path. The last three realms and the two realms are included in the truth of the path, which is unconditioned. Knowing that being free from outflows is merely Dharma, one abandons the attachment to self therein. Relying on what does one take up weapons such as swords, and sever bodies and possessions with punishment, and body and speech fight and quarrel with each other, and reveal the faults of others by speaking of faults, and not tolerate quarrels, and gamble in the place of vows, and so on, from what do the objects of strife arise? Attachment and so on are the cause of strife, therefore it is called strife, and those that are related to its nature and so on through the six gates are regarded as being associated with strife. Afflictions such as attachment are both outflows and strife, therefore, as many things as are associated with outflows, so many are also associated with strife. The afflictions of the two upper realms do not cause strife because they are the peak of concentration, however,
