Everything is in the form of two kinds of selflessness. Or, summarizing them all into the Four Noble Truths, by focusing and meditating on the sixteen aspects such as impermanence, all defilements will be completely purified, therefore everything exists ultimately. The commentary says that all dharmas are Suchness, because it is not other. Knowing that the object of purification is only dharma, one can abandon the attachment to the appearance as the cause of self-purification. In this way, conventional and ultimate, in terms of their own self-establishment, do not exist separately, however, for these dharmas belonging to the aggregates, elements, and sources, when children cling to the aspects of purity and happiness, etc., which increase defilements and accord with perversion, then all of that becomes conventional, obscuring the reality. When those aggregates, etc., are determined to be impermanent, etc., or the emptiness of the two, grasper and grasped, then at that time, all of them accord with purity and become the object of noble wisdom, therefore they are established as ultimate truth. Therefore, the aggregates, etc., distinguished by the inverted aspects of permanence, pleasure, self, etc., are in accordance with the increase of defilements and do not accord with reality, so they are conventional; the aggregates, etc., distinguished by the non-inverted aspects of impermanence, etc., are in accordance with the purification of defilements and accord with reality, so they are ultimate truth. This seems to be entering into the meaning of the scripture. Here, is whatever exists substantially, does it exist ultimately? Is whatever exists ultimately, is it also substantially existent? If asked in this way, there are substantially existent things that are not ultimately existent, namely, the aggregates, elements, and sources such as form and sound are substantially existent, which are distinguished by the inverted aspects of purity and pleasure, etc. There are also things that are ultimately existent but not substantially existent, namely, the aspects of truth such as impermanence, etc., and the three aspects of Suchness, etc. There are also things that are both, namely, impermanence.
