From (the previous), what is the classification of realms (Sanskrit: dhātu)? Thus it is said. Regarding this, the dharmas that were previously determined as the five aggregates of form, etc., are precisely what classify the realms. Whatever classifies the realms is precisely what classifies the sources (Sanskrit: āyatana). Realms that are separate from the aggregates, and sources that are separate from the realms, do not exist elsewhere. Therefore, realms are classified by specifically distinguishing them from the aggregates. Sources are classified by specifically distinguishing them from the realms. Regarding this, whatever dharmas are classified as the aggregate of form become the ten form realms, such as the eye realm, etc. Moreover, they are also a part of the dharma realm, namely the five forms included in the dharma source. Whatever is classified as the aggregates of feeling, perception, and volition becomes a part of the dharma realm. Whatever dharmas are classified as the aggregate of consciousness become the seven consciousness realms, such as the eye consciousness realm, etc. Regarding this, the mind that possesses afflictions and whose six have just ceased is the mind realm. Whatever is said to be consciousness is the six, such as the eye consciousness realm, etc. Whatever is said to be mind, namely the alaya consciousness, is the nature of all seven realms. Because both the seed and the maturation are the cause and dominant condition for the seven consciousnesses. Moreover, the term 'realm' is also explained as having the meaning of cause. Therefore, what was previously said was the alaya consciousness that accumulates its seeds and is the maturation. If all the dharmas classified in the aggregates are included in the realms, then are the dharmas classified in the realms also included in the aggregates? No. If so, among the realms, what dharma is not included by the aggregates? The unconditioned dharma that exists in the dharma realm is not included, because it does not have the meaning of aggregates. For example, are forms, etc., gathered and piled up by aspects such as past and future? Or because they have meanings such as carrying a burden?

are the aggregates, and those that are unconditioned are not permanent, therefore those are not permissible. What is the nature of the unconditioned, and what is its aspect? It does not arise from causes and conditions, and it is only recognized as severance, that is the nature of the unconditioned. Moreover, there are eight things that are unconditioned, like this, the suchness of virtuous dharmas, and so on. Among them, the nature of the suchness of virtue is the two types of selflessness of person and selflessness of phenomena, and its synonyms are emptiness and so on. The meaning of those synonyms is that selflessness itself does not change from its previous state due to the power of conditions, therefore it is called suchness. By focusing on this and meditating properly, the afflictive dharmas such as attachment do not increase and are exhausted, therefore it is called emptiness. Since all the signs of elaboration from form to enlightenment are pacified, it is called signlessness. It is the non-perverted object of person and phenomena, therefore it is called the ultimate reality. The non-conceptual wisdom of the noble ones is not deceiving in all aspects, therefore it is supreme, and since it is the object of the supreme wisdom, it is called ultimate meaning. Here, by meditating on the aspect of selflessness of person, the noble dharmas that can be attained by the hearers and solitary buddhas arise, and by meditating on the aspect of selflessness of phenomena, the Buddha's dharmas arise, and it is the cause of all dharmas such as hearers, therefore it is called the dharma realm. Those meanings are summarized in the verses of the Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes and so on, emptiness is: Suchness and the ultimate reality, signlessness and ultimate meaning, and the dharma realm are all synonyms. It is other, not inverted, its cessation, the object of the noble ones, and the cause of the noble ones' dharma, the meaning of the synonyms is in that order. Just as the nature, synonyms, and the meaning of the synonyms of the virtuous dharmas are, so are the non-virtuous and neutral.
