Because it is not possible, and if there is no second lineage, even if there is Suchness, the noble path will not arise, so the first lineage is not the main one. Only the second lineage is the main one, because the uncontaminated seed itself, in the manner previously described, is naturally determined separately, and therefore it is possible to distinguish the three vehicles through it. Those who have these (seeds) in their continuum will undoubtedly generate any one of the three vehicles' paths that are in accordance with themselves and subsequently. Therefore, in other places, in the context of determining the distinctions and nature of lineages, it is this second lineage that is mainly considered, not the first. Furthermore, in the Ornament for Clear Realization, it says, "The dharmas of realization are six," and so on, "Without possessing the giver of wisdom, the support for entering is called lineage." Whatever is said in this way is also said only from the perspective of the uncontaminated seed, and not from the perspective of Suchness. Because, like this, it cannot be said that Suchness is the support because it is the object of focus for those practices, because the realm of hearers and solitary realizers, etc., would be too extreme as the support for those practices. It also cannot be said to be acting as a cause and condition, because Suchness cannot be distinguished by conditions, and if a result arises from it, then it will never become non-existent, and because it pervades everything, it would be too extreme to consider everything as the object of that result. It also cannot be said to be acting as an immediately preceding condition or a dominant condition, because if that were the case, it would contradict the view that it is not determined by others such as faculties and previous consciousnesses, but that only the lineage Suchness is determined, and because Suchness is not knowledge or faculties, etc., it contradicts being the immediately preceding condition and the dominant condition for practice. If it is not suitable as a support for practice from the perspective of any of the four conditions, then how can it be said to be a support for practice? Therefore, (Suchness) has not acted as the causal condition for those other (dharmas) apart from the uncontaminated seed. Thus, the general establishment of the lineage of the noble path has been explained. Now, the
