Just as both parents desire to have a child in the future, and because they are interdependent, it is like not returning. Furthermore, for example, just as the material for weaving, even a single thread, produces many different fabrics due to the differences in its types, similarly, even a single karma, due to different birthplaces and different future aggregates, and the craving for them, is nourished by many cravings, thus producing many different ripening results. For example, just as when a mule is born in the intermediate state, it takes rebirth there due to attachment to the birthplace of a donkey. Therefore, craving is also said to be the main thing for taking rebirth. Similarly, the reason why craving is the main thing will also be explained in detail in this treatise. Enough with elaboration. Second, to show that the realms and sources are similar to this, the question is: Why? The answer is: For this question, it should be answered in the same way as explaining that the aggregates are the aggregates of clinging. Just like this, because they possess clinging, they are called the realms and sources of clinging. The way of possessing and the nature of clinging are as explained before. When the nature of the three dharmas possessing clinging is actually revealed, then the opposite of this, which is the three dharmas without clinging, will be easily understood. Therefore, no effort was made to write treatises explaining them. Therefore, in this treatise, three divisions of aggregates, realms, and sources are revealed, just like this, through words such as "is," in order to easily understand the respective natures of the three dharmas, the divisions of their entities are revealed. Through "clinging," after understanding the respective natures of the three dharmas, in order to properly accept or reject them, the divisions of the two aspects of affliction and purification are revealed. The three dharmas possessing clinging encompass all aspects of affliction to be abandoned, while the other aspect encompasses all aspects of purification to be adopted. Through "division," in order to generate wisdom, a vast classification is revealed. Fourth, the characteristics of each of the three dharmas, divided into three, first the characteristics of the aggregates, divided into five, first the characteristics of the form aggregate, the question is: Before form

Merely mentioning the name "Form Aggregate" without understanding its nature, one might ask, "What is the characteristic of the Form Aggregate?" The same question can be applied to the other aggregates. The answer is quoted in the commentary on the Abhidharmakosha: "In short, monks, form exists and is destructible, therefore it is called form, the aggregates to be apprehended." Thus, destructibility is explained as the meaning of form. To this, Master Vasubandhu believes that destructibility means being able to cause harm, but not in the sense of generating painful feelings. Rather, it means being able to cause change when in contact with other tangible things. The vessel realms of the first three dhyanas are destroyed by their earth, water, fire, etc.; the form bodies of sentient beings are also harmed by their earth, water, fire, and special powers. Although the vessel and sentient realms of the fourth dhyana, as well as the form body of the intermediate state, cannot be directly harmed, there is no fault of non-pervasiveness because they belong to the same category. Although this is the view, here it is to combine manifestation and cessation. Therefore, the general characteristic of form is as follows: whatever can be touched by the combined tactile sensations of hands, sticks, etc., is the general characteristic of form, but this characteristic does not exist everywhere. Except for the gods who dwell in the desire realm, in other desire realms, this characteristic is universally present. The form bodies of the gods who dwell in the desire realm may be harmed if touched by the combined tactile sensations of hands, sticks, weapons, etc., but they are not affected by the combined tactile sensations of cold, heat, hunger, thirst, etc. Because all their food, drink, and other necessities are perfectly accomplished merely by generating the desire, they are not harmed even if they experience hunger and thirst. The form bodies of the form realm are not harmed even if touched by the combined tactile sensations of hands, sticks, weapons, etc., let alone by other combined tactile sensations. Therefore, it is said in the sutras that what exists in two ways is form, and what is destructible is the characteristic of form, possessing its own nature. Therefore, the view that destructibility is the characteristic of form is the view of all Abhidharma.
