That path cannot be termed as 'going,' because it is contrary to 'going.' It is also unreasonable to think that 'going' will cease, because that would lead to the state of nirvana without remainder. Similarly, relying on sentient beings who are born in the peak of existence and have nothing to come back to, when the transcendental path is realized, the 'going' of both of these will cease, because all the minds of both of these, along with their outflows, have ceased. It has already been explained that taking rebirth is unreasonable. If there is no alaya-vijñana (store consciousness), then the good-doers and the evil-doers, at the time of death, initially from the soles of the feet and the crown of the head, gradually losing warmth, would be impossible, because there is no other consciousness that would do so. This gradual loss of warmth is either grasped by consciousness or not. Because it has not been seen that things not grasped by the mind change in this way. Among these, for the time being, the body consciousness is not reasonable. Even in the state of being alive, whichever part of the body the body consciousness arises in, even if that part is grasped by the mind, but other parts are not grasped, it would lead to the fault of heat disappearing and the senses ceasing, etc. For the same reason, the other four, such as eye consciousness, are also not reasonable, because the discontinuous places they rely on do not pervade all parts of the body. If it is said that the body's sense faculty pervades all limbs, so it gradually abandons it from the top or bottom. If so, this needs to be examined: Is it that the body's sense faculty ceases because it is abandoned by consciousness, or does it change in this way even if it is not abandoned? If it is the former, then it needs to be examined: Which consciousness abandons the body's sense faculty, causing the body's sense faculty to contract from the top or bottom, is that consciousness the entering consciousness, or another consciousness? The entering consciousness cannot operate in this way in this case. If it is said that even if consciousness does not abandon it, the body's sense faculty will cease, that is also unreasonable, because the body's sense faculty will cease.

Because here, it is not reasonable for the Alaya-consciousness to abandon it. If it is said that the mind-consciousness abandons warmth, that is also unreasonable. Because the mind-consciousness does not rely on the body, and the body does not rely on the mind-consciousness. If it is said that whatever part of the body is grasped as self, that part has warmth, and whatever is not grasped in that way abandons warmth, then in some living states, warmth would also be abandoned, because it has already been said that it always grasps the body as self and belonging to self. If warmth is not abandoned merely because it exists, then as long as the mind-consciousness exists until the last breath, warmth would not be abandoned either, which is also unreasonable, because warmth has been seen to disappear before that. It cannot be said that warmth is gradually abandoned as the karmic force is gradually exhausted. Because it should be examined whether the warmth is gradually abandoned because the consciousness that holds the body gradually abandons the body due to the exhaustion of the karmic force, or whether it is due to some other reason. If there is Alaya-consciousness, how can this be established? Because all faculties rely on it. Therefore, whichever side of the faculties, due to the complete exhaustion of the karmic force, the side where the Vipaka-consciousness is incompatible with birth, and the extinction of its faculties, that is the very reason for the disappearance of warmth. Through this sequence, because all the faculties are completely abandoned, the whole body will eventually lose all warmth, which is reasonable. This is temporarily for the view that accepts the existence of external objects. For the view that considers the knowable to be internal, when the Alaya-consciousness appears to pervade the entire body, then the entire body is included. When some part of the body appears as self and some part appears as external, then the part that appears as self is included, and the part that has the appearance of an external object, because it is not included, warmth will disappear. This is what appears in the 'Meaningful Explanation'. But this is not considered reasonable. For example, whichever part of the body loses warmth, that is because it has become an external object to the Alaya-consciousness.
