That is, it should be understood through the fact that 'consciousness' cannot arise from the condition of 'action,' and 'existence' cannot arise from the condition of 'grasping.' Among these, the first point is that if there is no ālaya-vijñāna, then 'consciousness' cannot arise from the condition of 'action.' This is because, for any consciousness, the place where the habits conforming to itself and its consequences are imprinted by virtuous, non-virtuous, and unwavering actions, if that is called 'consciousness' arising from the condition of 'action,' then the entering consciousnesses, etc., are not suitable as the basis for imprinting the habits of 'action,' as has been answered many times. Therefore, the ālaya-vijñāna exists as the basis for imprinting habits by virtuous actions, etc. Otherwise, it is not reasonable to say that 'consciousness' arises from the condition of 'action.' If there is no ālaya-vijñāna, then 'existence' also cannot arise from the condition of 'grasping.' This is because, if the habits imprinted by actions are nourished by 'grasping,' and the state of tending towards the re-arising of 'existence' is called 'existence,' then according to the previously stated reasoning, if there is no ālaya-vijñāna, then since there are no habits imprinted by actions, how can one see the characteristic 'existence' that tends towards the re-arising of 'existence' due to the condition of 'grasping'? Therefore, if there is no ālaya-vijñāna, then 'existence' cannot arise from the condition of 'grasping.' Thus, through these two reasons, from the perspective of showing that if there is no ālaya-vijñāna, then both the projecting karma and the accomplishing karma cannot be established, it is shown that the afflictions of karma cannot be established. Now, it will be said that if there is no ālaya-vijñāna, then the afflictions of life are not reasonable. This should also be understood through the fact that rebirth is not possible and death is not possible. The first point should be understood through the three points: rebirth is not possible in the state of non-absorption, rebirth is not possible in the state of absorption, and distinguishing and examining the formless realms. The first point is that rebirth is not possible again, and the faculties that have already been joined cannot remain.

It should be understood through 'I' and also, consciousness should not mutually depend, and the food of consciousness should not be appropriate. Regarding this, if there is no Alaya-consciousness, then in a place where samadhi is not established, connecting the continuum in the mother's womb is unreasonable, because the entering consciousnesses cannot connect the continuum, and other consciousnesses also do not accept it. If, among the entering consciousnesses, the sensory consciousnesses cannot connect the continuum, but the mind consciousness can connect the continuum, like this: the mind consciousness that desires to be born in the desire realm's womb, when it is in the intermediate state, the mind consciousness with the aspect of attachment and anger towards either the father or mother, that afflicted consciousness connects the continuum in the place of birth. That afflicted mind consciousness ceases together with the intermediate state, and its continuum, the second moment, together with the nature of the coagulated substance of the mixture of the father and mother's blood in the mother's womb, becomes faint, and that is the nature of maturation; those who do not accept the Alaya-consciousness say this. To this, it should be said: if that fainting consciousness is the nature of maturation, then at that time it must continue uninterrupted until the end of life, otherwise maturation will cease and connect, therefore even in one lifetime, there will be repeated deaths and rebirths. Thus, the nature of the fainting mind consciousness is always present, so when strong attachment arises in the womb, and the subsequent angry aspect of mind consciousness, when good or bad arises, then two mind consciousnesses will enter simultaneously, which is also unreasonable, because it contradicts the sutra that says, "Two minds arising simultaneously, that is without place and opportunity," and it is not accepted. If that fainting mind consciousness, and the mind consciousness of good or bad nature,
