That is called faith-resolve, because it is particularly distinguished by faith through the increase of faith. The follower of the Dharma is called seeing-attainment, because it is particularly distinguished by seeing through the increase of wisdom. The first is, Shariputra, those Bodhisattvas who are not skilled in means practice the four dhyanas. They also practice the six perfections, and by the power of obtaining dhyana, they are born in the long-lived gods. After dying and transmigrating from there, if they are born among the gods and humans in the desire realm, they will become dull-witted, and will not become sharp-witted. The second is, Shariputra, those great Bodhisattvas who are skilled in means enter into dhyana and formless attainments, and also enter into the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, not by the power of dhyana and so on, but by skillful means, wherever the Buddha Bhagavan is pleased, they will be born in those places. The stream-enterer is, Shariputra, the great Bodhisattva who practices Prajnaparamita and diligently cultivates, in order to fully ripen sentient beings. By the power of skillful means, although they manifest the fruit of stream-entry, they do not become arrogant because of it. The noble ones did not enumerate this, probably because the text of the commentary is damaged, because it comes from the eighth chapter. The stream-enterer itself, know that there are two kinds of rebirth from lineage to lineage, like this, from the lineage of gods to lineage, and from the lineage of humans to lineage. The first is, Shariputra, those Bodhisattvas who generate dhyana and formless attainments, by skillful means, in the lineage of humans, they will be born into the Kshatriya lineage, like a great Sala tree, or they will be born into the Brahmin lineage, like a great Sala tree, or they will be born into the householder lineage, like a great Sala tree. The second is, Bodhisattvas who have attained dhyana and so on, by skillful means, from the lineage of the four great kings, they are born among the gods of Paranirmita-vasavartin. The once-returner is, Shariputra, those great Bodhisattvas who practice Prajnaparamita, by skillful means, enter into dhyana and formless attainments.

Such as those who travel on the ground, etc. The one obstacle is: Shariputra, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, who, from the fourth dhyana up to the attainment of the four noble truths, yet have those who manifest them. These are called those obstructed by one lifetime. The non-returner is: Shariputra, Bodhisattvas who have attained the six superknowledges do not arise in the desire realm, the form realm, or the formless realm. However, from Buddha-field to Buddha-field, beginning with desire, wherever the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, reside, they are born there, and there are also those who do this. The non-returner is also of five kinds. Passing away in the intermediate state is: Shariputra, Bodhisattvas who have attained dhyana, etc., who, being skilled in means, are born from the Brahma host gods to the Akanistha gods, there are also those who do this. Passing away after being born is: Shariputra, Bodhisattvas who, from the very first moment of generating bodhicitta, manifest perfect enlightenment in unsurpassed complete enlightenment. Thus it is said. Passing away with effort is: Shariputra, Bodhisattvas who practice the six perfections, who go from world to world, and who are constantly diligent for the benefit of sentient beings. Thus it is said. Passing away without effort is: Shariputra, Bodhisattvas who, from the very first moment of generating bodhicitta, pass into the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva. Thus it is said. Going upwards is: the fifth non-returner, which is going to the ultimate end of Akanistha and going to the ultimate end of the peak of existence. The first, going to Akanistha, is: Shariputra, Bodhisattvas who practice the six perfections, who, having become wheel-turning kings, accomplish all the means of happiness for sentient beings, providing food for those who desire food, etc., establishing sentient beings in the ten virtues, being born from the Brahma host gods to Akanistha, and manifesting perfect enlightenment in unsurpassed complete enlightenment in various Buddha-fields, there are also those who do this. Going to Akanistha has three aspects, such as leaping, namely leaping, deliberately leaping, and dying and transmigrating in all places. The first is: Shariputra, Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who have perfected the four dhyanas, and having completely fallen away from dhyana, cultivate the first dhyana.
