Yes. The term "complete falling away" is considered by the Vaibhashikas to mean falling away from the fruit, but here it refers to falling away only from the meditative state of dwelling in bliss in the present life, not from the fruit. As it says in the Pramanavarttika: "Non-harm and the true meaning, because of reversal from their nature, even if effort is made, cannot be turned back, because the mind holds to that side." Therefore, the abandonment that is superior through reasoning is a well-abandoned abandonment, so it will not return. Otherwise, there would be no trust in liberation. The Abhidharmakosabhasya says: "Those who have the nature of completely falling away will not necessarily fall away, nor will they necessarily realize until they have the potential for realization, but it is said so because of existence." In this way, there can be six Arhats in each of the three realms. According to those who say that one will inevitably fall away completely until realization, there are six in the desire realm, and in the upper two realms, there are two who abide in the nature of non-regression, because in those two realms, complete falling away, thoughts at the time of death, and transference of faculties are impossible. Third, the boundary is from the liberation of the peak of existence or knowing the cessation of birth, until one has not entered into nirvana without remainder. Second, there are four meanings to be explained: examining the definition of the way of establishing, how to divide into twenty based on what, the difference between the real and the imputed, and examining the boundary. The first is: it is unreasonable for others to follow the literal meaning of the sutras to establish these definitions, because both the teacher and the noble one have separately established these mostly through abandoning the definitions, and the words of the sutras are already included, while abandonment makes the difference clearer. Also, it is not correct to say that the former Kyong and others abandoned the conceptualization of grasper and grasped, and are established as similar to the Hearers, because the noble one has made a classification of the fruit of the returner and the non-returner, and it is unreasonable to abandon the conceptualization of grasper and grasped before the path of seeing. Therefore, the definitions of these are separately established through the abandonment of the obscurations of affliction and the distinction of antidotes, because the teacher has done so.

If it is said in the Compendium of Topics, "Bodhisattvas cultivate the path in the ten grounds as the antidote to the obscuration of knowledge, but not as the antidote to the obscuration of afflictions," isn't that what is said? Then, how is it established through the abandonment of afflictive obscurations? It is true, but nevertheless, the reason for establishing it in this way here is not because the two obscurations, afflictive and cognitive, are the main objects to be abandoned by bodhisattvas, but because it is necessary. What is the necessity here? The reason why the bodhisattvas mentioned in the sutras are summarized into treatises by the venerable ones under the names of entering and abiding is to make the terminology concise and easy to understand, and because it is in accordance with the root terminology, the commentary explains its meaning. Although bodhisattvas do not primarily abandon afflictive obscurations, it is not the case that the order of abandoning afflictive obscurations for them is not similar to the order of abandoning afflictive obscurations for shravakas. For example, bodhisattvas abandon afflictive obscurations as a side effect of primarily abandoning cognitive obscurations, and when abandoning cognitive obscurations, they also divide each of the nine grounds, such as the desire realm, into nine categories of grasping and apprehended conceptualizations, large, medium, and small, and abandon them. When the largest of the grasping and apprehended conceptualizations of cognitive obscurations operating in the desire realm is abandoned, its cause, the largest of the afflictions, is abandoned. When the smallest of the grasping and apprehended conceptualizations of the peak of existence is abandoned, its afflictions are abandoned down to the smallest. In this way, in the Compendium of Topics, it is said that bodhisattvas simultaneously abandon afflictive obscurations and cognitive obscurations, simultaneously become arhats, and will definitely change. In the Commentary on the Sunlight, abandoning the eighth affliction of the peak of existence is established as entering the fruit of arhatship, and then, quoting "the bodhisattva of the tenth ground is also called only a Buddha" as the basis, saying that it is the tenth ground is also a good explanation. Therefore, bodhisattvas also have reasons for applying terms such as stream-enterer, similar to shravakas. Here, they are referred to by the names of entering and abiding, and their meanings are distinguished because of the occasion.
