Therefore, this is the remedy for it. If asked, under what circumstances does one become discouraged? Even after practicing diligently for a long time, it is because one fails to achieve the desired Bodhi. The Sutra says: When a Mahayana practitioner practices the six perfections, they should not cling to form. Sixth, the teaching to counteract discouragement is to fully grasp the path. Teaching: To whom is the teaching given? To those who fully grasp. How is it done? Without deviating from the two truths, one should realize that all phenomena are inherently empty. The purpose is: To attain omniscience. As it is said: There is nothing that a Bodhisattva does not learn. Therefore, for every purpose, even to the Buddhas of the ten directions, one should receive the teachings of the path. If one thinks: How can someone like me do that? One will become discouraged, therefore, this is the remedy for it. Because all the paths of omniscience are included within the Prajnaparamita that realizes the emptiness of all phenomena, there is no need to learn many paths. The Sutra says: Shariputra, a Mahayana practitioner with such wisdom can see Tathagatas, Arhats, Samyaksambuddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River in the eastern world, and also hear the Dharma taught by them. Seventh, the cause of practice that does not rely on others is the teaching on the five eyes. Teaching: To whom is the teaching given? To the five eyes. How is it done? Without deviating from the two truths, one should realize Suchness as being one, free from elaboration, and practice. What are the five eyes? They should be understood from their meaning, namely, their respective nature, boundary, cause, and the purpose of the teaching. First, the flesh eye can naturally determine the limits of objects, having colored objects ranging from a hundred yojanas to three thousand great chiliocosms. As the Sutra says: The flesh eye of a Mahayana practitioner can see a hundred yojanas, and even see the three thousand great chiliocosms. In the Ratnavali it says: Offering garlands of lamps to stupas, offering lamps in dark places, and giving lamp oil, one obtains the divine eye.
