The order of these things, such as generating Bodhicitta in appearance, is reasonable. Striving to generate Bodhicitta is for the sake of seeking instructions, and abiding in unerring instructions is for the sake of arising in accordance with the aspect of certainty. Then, what Dharma to rely on for practice, what to focus on, what to do specifically, and what the practice itself is, these four aspects exist. As it is said. Secondly, the Path Aspect has two parts: the nature of the eleven Dharmas that reveal the Path Aspect, and how it reveals the Path Aspect. Firstly, these eleven Dharmas can be summarized into two: the cause of the Path Aspect and its essence. The first is further divided into being free from opposing obstacles and possessing favorable conditions and causal conditions. The first is that when other conditions are complete, there are two obstacles to generating Bodhicitta: arrogance of self-importance and timidity of self-deprecation. Self-importance, because there is no seeking of distinction at a higher level, Bodhicitta does not arise. Self-deprecation also does not generate the courage to pursue distinction, so Bodhicitta does not arise. As it is said: Accompanied by timidity, abandoning effort, how can one be liberated from poverty? Both of these obstacles are also eliminated by the light of the Tathāgatagarbha, through the action of making the light of the fruition of the gods of the desire and form realms dim. Because with the light of their own bodies, the arrogant gods of the desire and form realms realize that the light of the Tathāgata arises from accumulating merit and virtue for many eons, so it is powerful; and their own light arises from contaminated karma, so it is even more inferior. Some people think, how can people like us attain Bodhi, and thus become timid. When they see the light of the Tathāgatagarbha overwhelming the light of the gods, they think that even having been reborn as a human, one can attain accomplishment through such accumulation of merit, and thus generate the courage to desire Bodhi. Even so, it is also for the sake of pleasing the gods. As it is said, because the main object to be tamed by the teaching of the Path Aspect is the gods, so the main

It has been mastered. Secondly, there are two types of conditions: the cooperative condition and the proximate cause. The first is the determination of the place, which shows that the wisdom of the path arises only in the continuum of those who have generated the mind of enlightenment. This is because generating the mind of enlightenment is to benefit the beings to be tamed by the three types of faculties, according to their respective capacities, and therefore to study the paths of the three vehicles. The second is pervasiveness, which shows that the Buddha-nature pervades all. Someone might ask, "Is it not the case that merely generating the mind of enlightenment and having the Buddha-nature are not sufficient conditions for the wisdom of the path, and that one also needs instructions and the decisive part that properly attends to their meaning?" The answer is, "Indeed, that is so, but those are also drawn by the (Bodhi)citta. Those who abide in the Buddha-nature and generate the mind of enlightenment will undoubtedly seek the expedient instructions for attaining enlightenment, and having obtained the instructions, they will properly attend to their meaning, because receiving the instructions is also for the sake of practicing their meaning." Secondly, the nature of the wisdom of the path is also twofold: the method is great compassion, and the wisdom that knows that the three paths are unattainable. The first is shown by the nature of not abandoning afflictions and the activity of accomplishing the benefit of others, in order to eliminate the manifestation of the extreme of reality that is contrary to great compassion. In this way, there are two causes for the manifestation of the extreme of reality: being destroyed by the suffering of samsara, and not rejoicing in the benefit of sentient beings. These are to be eliminated by two dharmas in order. The four, such as the determination of the place, are indicated here by the word "etc.". Secondly, there are two types of realization: the realization to know the limb of guiding others, and the realization to manifest the limb of maturing and liberating oneself. The first has two paths of guiding followers of the Hearer lineage and the Pratyekabuddha lineage. These are also shown by "Which is the path of the Hearers and the path of the rhinoceros horn (symbolizing the Pratyekabuddha)?" The Hearers follow the words of others, so they are called Hearers, while the Pratyekabuddhas, like the rhinoceros horn, abide without companions, so they are called rhinoceros horns. Second
