Because contradictory dharmas exist. If someone says that it exists in the nature of partless atoms, then, are these existing by mutually touching each other as desired by the Vaibhashikas? Or are they existing with intervals surrounding each other as per the Vaibhashikas? Or are they existing without touching and without intervals as per the Sautrantikas? All three ways are unreasonable. As stated in the Ornament of the Middle Way: "The atom located in the center, With what nature does it look at one atom? If it is said that it also looks at other atoms With the same nature, If that is the case, then how can earth, water, etc. Not grow? If it is thought that the face looking at other atoms Is another face, Then how can the extremely small atom Become a single, partless entity?" As it is said, with whatever nature the central atom looks at the eastern atom, if it also looks at the atoms in other directions with the same nature, then the atoms in other directions will also be in the position of the eastern atom. In that case, even if many atoms gather, they will not grow into a lump. If one wants to avoid that fault and thinks that one looks at the atoms located in other directions with other faces, then the central atom will become partful, thereby losing the nature of an atom. If extremely small atoms do not exist, then the objects with limbs composed of them, as well as the five sense faculties such as the eye and the five objects such as form, will easily be established as being without self-nature, because they are the nature of the accumulation of extremely small atoms. Because they do not exist, the five sense consciousnesses do not exist because there is no independent and objective cause. Because they do not exist, the mind consciousness also has no self-nature because there is no immediately preceding cause. Therefore, the non-existence of consciousness is established. Because there are no objects other than objects and consciousness, this reason is not unestablished. Second, this reason is not uncertain, because water moons and the like exist in the homogeneous side, and the nature of one and many exists by mutually abandoning each other, so it is also established that it retreats from the heterogeneous side because it eliminates other aggregates. Third, as stated in the Lankavatara Sutra: "Abandoning the nature of one and many, Form now appears in the mirror, Although it appears, it is not there, Likewise is the nature of things." Second, analyzing the cause with the diamond sliver.
