If it is said that the dharmadhatu is naturally pure, but when the object of dharma is purified by defilements, it is also given the name of purity, so there is no fault of purity not becoming a difference. If that is the case, then even in the state of being extremely pure, it is still clinging to the fact that purity is the wisdom of suchness, without abandoning the clinging to the opponent's side, because the pure object, the wisdom of suchness, is truly existent. This is pervasive, because if the object is truly existent, then there is no way to abandon the mind of clinging to it as true. If there is attachment to the opponent, then in effect it will also lead to attachment to the unfavorable side, because if there is no unfavorable side, the conceptual thought of the opponent will not arise. In that case, your purity will only become pure in one way by defilements, because you have not abandoned the conceptual thoughts of the unfavorable and opponent sides. Secondly, according to your view, the noble Subhuti said that the object of omniscience is without substance, so how can the object become ultimately pure? There is no fault, because the absence of substance that follows reason is said to be the true conventional truth. Gradually realizing the obscuration of the nature of suchness like chaff is itself purity. The meaning is that you also say that the object of omniscience is without substance, because there is no defilement to be removed from the absence of substance, so the purity of the object will not become a difference, it is the same. If someone asks: Our object of omniscience is the dependent origination like an illusion without true substance when analyzed by reason, not the non-existence after the negation of substance. As long as it is not realized as an illusion, attachment to it will arise, so it is called the impure object. When the wisdom that appears as the nature of illusion without any conceptualization of any kind arises, it is said to be the ultimate purity of the object when it is abandoned in such a way that the conceptual thoughts of addition and slander do not arise again. Thirdly, if this is done, then the nature that is primary is the lineage, and the transformation that is primary is the object,

The statement "For both, it is not forbidden to be both" refers to the distinction between the nature of the support and the object. The meaning is this: In the stage of lineage, the nature of the dharmadhatu is primary, because lineage is thoroughly distinguished by the support and cause. All dharmas should indeed be based on and supported by the root of the dharmadhatu. In the stage of the object, the appearance of conventionality is primary. For example, whatever is the object of the opposing side is also the object of the antidote, because focusing on different bases cannot be abandoned or remedied. The opposing afflictions and conceptualizations are also seen to arise only by focusing on conventionality. Therefore, the object of practice is also primarily conventional. Since appearance is the dharmata, inseparable from the dharmadhatu, it is the support and cause of practice. Therefore, it is not forbidden that appearance is also a distinction of lineage. By practicing with appearance as the object, distinguished by the nature of emptiness, one can abandon the opposing side of the two obscurations. If one focuses on isolated appearance, one cannot abandon the opposing side. Therefore, nature is also not forbidden to become a distinction of the object. Third, the commentary is divided into three parts: general explanation, specific explanation, and summary of meaning. The first is: By truly focusing without deviating from the two truths, when the purity of the object is realized, one will attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, otherwise not. Therefore, a Bodhisattva must first generally observe all phenomena, and then separately examine which of these phenomena are virtuous, which should be adopted, which are non-virtuous, which should be abandoned, and which are neutral, which are not taught. When examining in this way, the four fruits of the ascetic life, etc., are virtuous in order, because they are to be relied upon by those who seek the desired fruit. Intentionally killing and the other ten non-virtuous actions are non-virtuous, because they should be abandoned in all circumstances as a means of abandoning suffering.
