It is present and simultaneous. Likewise, as long as the antidote has not arisen, it should not be said that the opposing factors have ceased, because there is nothing to prevent them from arising again. When the antidote has fully arisen, there is no opportunity for it to arise again, so it is called the abandoned has ceased. Here, does the antidote refer to the path of immediate cessation or the path of liberation? Others hold that it refers to the path of immediate cessation, but that is not the case, because when the path of immediate cessation arises, the object to be abandoned is being abandoned, but it has not been abandoned. Otherwise, the path of immediate cessation would not be doing the act of actually abandoning the object to be abandoned. Therefore, in general, with regard to the antidote, when the path of liberation arises, the antidote has fully arisen, so it is said that all that is to be abandoned has ceased. The ancients associated the previous path of cultivation, that is, the seven grounds and below, with this path of immediate cessation of the eighth ground, but that does not agree with "the power of arising." After that, because they do not cling to the antidote to be abandoned, they obtain the unacquired abandonment that is in accordance with the objects of arising and cessation. This is associated with the path of liberation of the eighth ground. After that, they obtain the wisdom of realizing selflessness, which is the characteristic of not abiding in samsara, and the great compassion of skillful means, which is the characteristic of not abiding in nirvana. By what power? By the power of not abiding in existence and peace, becoming one who benefits others, that is, the aspirations of the past and the practice of the six perfections such as generosity, and the power of being skilled in skillful means. This is also associated with the special qualities of the eighth ground. After that, because these skillful means and wisdom that do not abide in samsara and nirvana have arisen, they obtain the Dharma that is not common to the Hearers and Solitary Realizers and other inferior vehicles. This is placed on the ninth ground, because they have obtained the four analytical knowledges, so in all respects they are not common to the Hearers and Solitary Realizers. After obtaining what is not common to the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, they obtain the attainment of the order of others. How do they benefit others? According to the inclinations of those to be tamed, they constantly guide them on the path of the three vehicles, having such characteristics. By what skillful means? By flexibly transforming characteristics and antidotes in ways such as abiding, they teach the Dharma through the four intentions.

This is established on the tenth bhumi, it is said because there it is declared that the Buddha and benefiting others are the same. Here, the meanings of various hidden meanings are explained. There are two types: showing the difference of definite numbers. The first has four types. The hidden meaning regarding abiding is: in order to gradually settle those who are afraid of the selflessness of persons and phenomena. Whatever is said about the existence of internal and external sources, sentient beings, and persons, etc., as stated in the "Twentieth Chapter": Regarding the existence of forms and other sources, it is spoken by the power of intention for the beings to be subdued, just like emanated sentient beings. Second, the hidden meaning regarding characteristics is: considering the three types of non-self-nature, it is declared in the Prajnaparamita Sutra that all phenomena are without self-nature. As stated in the "Thirtieth Chapter": Therefore, regarding all phenomena, the three types of non-self-nature, considering all phenomena, non-self-nature is declared. Third, the hidden meaning regarding antidotes is: In the Ornament of Sutras, it says: Disparaging the Buddha's teachings, being slightly lazy and content, acting with desire and pride, regret and uncertain regression, are the obstacles of sentient beings, and the Mahayana is firm as an antidote to these. Thus, what is said is the antidote to the eight obstacles. Regarding this, when praising the Buddha Vipashyin, for some of the retinue who thought that our teacher was inferior to him, in order to counteract the disparagement of the Buddha, considering the three types of equality, it was declared that at that time, at that moment, he became the Buddha Vipashyin. The three types of equality are: all Buddhas are equal in terms of the sangha and, the Dharmakaya benefiting sentient beings, but not measured by lifespan and, lineage and body size. Also, to some it is said that this is nihilism, in order to counteract the disparagement of the Mahayana teachings, considering the Dharma of realization, if one serves and honors Buddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, one will hear the Mahayana teachings. For those who are lazy, considering rebirth at another time, those who aspire to be born in Sukhavati, they will be born there. For those who are content with little merit, belittling generosity and praising morality, etc.
