It is said that the characteristic of the nature of the six sense bases is that it is the cause of the term Bodhisattva being applied, and not the meaning of the word that has become an entity. The meaning of this is as follows: In conventional terms, the basis of accomplishment is Bodhicitta, which is the inner six sense bases such as the eye. There is nothing else besides that. Since these are also the nature of emptiness in the ultimate sense, the nature of the six sense bases is shown to be the lineage that is the basis of accomplishment. It is not reasonable for a separate nature to be a lineage, because the meaning of lineage is to act as a basis or cause, and a nature that is separate from the subject is not real, so there is no meaning of lineage. A separate subject is also not a lineage that exists inherently, because it depends on causes and conditions, so there is no meaning of the word "inherent." The nature of any subject is also not, because that would lead to the fault that even external realms have the Buddha-nature. It is also not a state that is free from all defilements, because it has already been transformed into the Dharmakaya, and lineage is the state of a cause. Therefore, the impure nature of the inner six sense bases that is inseparable from the subject is the lineage. Secondly, there are two ways to explain how it becomes a lineage: from the perspective of the basis and from the perspective of the cause. First, the nature of the six sense bases is inseparable from the subject, and it itself is the basis of accomplishment. For example, in conventional terms, the Bodhisattva itself is the basis of accomplishment, and the nature of the inner six sense bases such as the eye, which are the objects of the Bodhisattva's true accomplishment, is the essence of emptiness. Therefore, this is in accordance with what is said in the Ratnagotravibhāga: "Earth depends on water, water depends on wind, wind depends on space. Space does not depend on the elements of earth, water, and wind. Similarly, the aggregates, elements, and sense bases depend on karma and afflictions. Karma and afflictions depend on improper attention. Improper attention depends on the purity of the mind." Secondly, all accomplishments arise from the cause of the previous inner sense bases of the Bodhisattva, which are the objects of accomplishment, because no other cause is observed.

Yes. Because these are also the very nature of emptiness of inherent existence, therefore, taking the nature of the six sense bases as the subject's distinction is established as the very cause of proof. Second, although the essence is without difference, it is nominally designated as the lineage of the three vehicles in terms of temporarily serving as the basis or cause for the realization of the three vehicles. And that itself is nominally designated as two types of lineages, definite and indefinite, based on the distinction of whether or not it is seized by conditions. Furthermore, when that itself does not serve as the basis for the practice of the three vehicles, it is called the naturally abiding lineage. When it serves as the basis for practice, it is acceptable to nominally designate it as truly taken by conditions. Third, refuting disputes is divided into two: first, refuting disputes about the order. In the commentary, it says: "The manifestation of those that are in accordance with the parts of generating bodhicitta, liberation, and certainty, should be explained as the lineage only at the beginning, shouldn't it? Why is it explained in this way?" Although that is true, that is the order of meaning. But this is explaining the result first and then showing the cause later, so it is the order of explanation, therefore there is no fault. Second, refuting disputes about the essence. In "Sun Essence," it says: "If there are some naturally abiding lineages, why is it that in beginningless samsara, Buddhas equal to the sands of the Ganges have passed away into nirvana, but still sentient beings with naturally abiding lineages have not been liberated from suffering?" That is because it is endowed with four kinds of faults: "Habitual afflictions and bad friends, poverty and the power of others. In short, the faults of lineage are truly spoken of as four kinds." Here it is said that the uninterrupted path itself is manifestly considered to be the naturally abiding lineage. The meaning is that although there is a cause, the naturally abiding lineage, sentient beings do not pass away from suffering because they possess the four faults that are obstacles to the activity of the Buddha. Second, regarding the meaning of the branches, there are two parts: showing the nature of the lineage, and refuting disputes about it. The first part has four: first, making the connection, which is what will appear below.
