Sa so. The third, the explanation is divided into five pairs, the first pair is the category of entering the stream, with two types of entering position and abiding position, first: The bodhisattva who relies on the first fifteen moments of the sixteen moments of the path of seeing, which will be explained in the second chapter, and who has not completely abandoned the previously desired cultivation and abandonment of afflictions, in terms of its dharma nature, has entered the first fruit position of the bodhisattva, because it is striving to obtain the fruit of the principle of a śrāmaṇa who has abandoned the three bonds and distinguished them well, which should be obtained by the Mahāyāna path. The so-called "what should be obtained by the Mahāyāna path" also applies to the following situations. If distinguished, there are two types, namely the difference between the dull-rooted follower of faith and the sharp-rooted follower of dharma. Second, it is divided into mere and special types, first: The so-called "after that" refers to showing the order of narration. The previously cultivated afflictions have not been abandoned, and the mind that abides in the sixteenth moment, in terms of its dharma nature, is the abiding in the fruit of entering the stream of the bodhisattva, because it is abiding in the fruit of the principle of a śrāmaṇa who has abandoned the three bonds, which should be obtained by the Mahāyāna path. The second is: The stream-enterer, desiring to abandon three or four cultivated afflictions but not abandoning the fifth, and desiring to obtain its antidote, the uncontaminated root, and being born as a deva or human, taking two or three similar kinds. That is the bodhisattva's birth from lineage to lineage. Similarly, desiring to be born as a deva, continuously taking similar kinds, is the birth from the deva lineage to the lineage; and desiring to be born as a human, continuously taking similar kinds, is the birth from the human lineage to the lineage, merely by this, there are two special situations other than the mere abiding in the fruit of entering the stream. The second pair, the category of once-returner, the first of entering the fruit: The previous dull-rooted follower of faith and the sharp-rooted follower of dharma, when they abide in the realization of the sixteenth moment, are called faith-liberated and vision-attained in order, because they are extremely excellent fruit positions due to the increase of faith and the increase of wisdom. After they have abandoned the fifth affliction, when they strive in the practice of abandoning the sixth affliction, they have entered the second fruit position of the bodhisattva, because they are striving to obtain the fruit of the principle of a śrāmaṇa who has abandoned desire for almost everything that should be obtained by the Mahāyāna path and distinguished them well.

It is so. Those two have only one count of twenty. Since the moments of the path of seeing arise without interruption, there is no transformation of faculties, so the two followers are established separately. In the path of meditation, the faculties may transform from sharp to dull, so it is established as one. This is what the ancients say. The first of the two slight differences is: A bodhisattva abiding on the path of liberation from abandoning the sixth level of desire realm afflictions is abiding on the fruit of a once-returner bodhisattva, because most of what is attained by the Mahayana path is free from desire, so it abides on the fruit of the completely separated conduct of a renunciate. The second is: That once-returner, having abandoned the seventh or eighth level of afflictions, but not the ninth, takes one more birth desiring to obtain the uncontaminated faculty that is the antidote to it, is called a one-interval. Generally, concerning the non-returner, the first of the two, entering and abiding, is: Those with faith and those who have attained seeing, having abandoned the eighth level of afflictions, when striving in the practice of abandoning the ninth level, are entering the third fruit of a bodhisattva, because they strive to obtain the fruit of the conduct of a renunciate who has abandoned the five similar levels of the final part to be attained by the Mahayana. Those two are one, like the entry into the once-returner before. A bodhisattva abiding on the path of liberation from abandoning the ninth level of desire realm afflictions is abiding on the fruit of a non-returner bodhisattva, because the Mahayana path has abandoned the five similar levels of the final part to be attained, so it abides on the fruit of the completely separated conduct of a renunciate. That itself has five aspects. The first of these is the bodhisattva who passes away in the intermediate state, having abandoned all the afflictions of being born in the form realm, but not having abandoned the manifest afflictions, merely at the moment of the accomplishment of the intermediate state of the form realm, directly realizes the path and thereby obtains the cessation of suffering. Here, the meaning of obtaining the cessation of suffering is the direct realization of the liberation from abandoning the gross afflictive obscurations that are the cause of birth in the three realms, and that is also obtained from the eighth ground, because there all afflictions are abandoned. As it is said in the Madhyamakavatara: On the eighth ground, those stains and their roots are completely pacified. So, entering the fruit of an Arhat is explained on the tenth ground, and to that
