The two meditations that are antidotes (to afflictions). The first is: It is not established that the path of meditation, which is of the nature of the uncontaminated, is transformed into different types of realization from the path of seeing. Because the uncontaminated paths of seeing and meditation only realize the dharmadhatu, and there is no transformation into different types. The reason for establishing this is: That uncontaminated path of meditation also focuses on the reality of suchness, which is to be directly realized by the path of seeing, which is of the nature of the sixteen moments mentioned above, because it is not different from it. For example, the truth of the path realized by conditioned phenomena and the truth of cessation abandoned by unconditioned phenomena, in ultimate reality, are of the same essence as emptiness, and cannot be established as mutually different by that alone. The second is: The nature of the path of seeing is not different, but the path of meditation is meditated upon as the antidote to the object to be abandoned, the innate (afflictions). If the innate (afflictions) to be abandoned are not abandoned by the path of seeing, then it is not appropriate for the path of meditation to abandon them, because there is no difference in nature. If you say that, there is no fault. Even though the nature of seeing and meditation is not different, the path of seeing does not abandon the innate (afflictions), but the path of meditation does abandon them, because it is the nature of dependent arising that occurs only through this condition. The sutra says: Subhuti, without the realm of the conditioned, one cannot establish the realm of the unconditioned; without the realm of the unconditioned, one cannot establish the realm of the conditioned. This sutra teaches the path of meditation through the example of expressing another meaning, but does not teach it directly. Therefore, in the commentary, it is said that the conditioned and the unconditioned are examples directly taught in the sutra, and the rest is the nature of the path of meditation, which is drawn from within by the teacher and established by the meaning. Third, summarizing the meaning and showing the certainty of the number. Therefore, connect "the instructions are ten in number." The reason is: Only these ten can completely fulfill all the purposes of beings. Why do only these ten completely accomplish the purposes of beings? Because the arising of the mind of enlightenment, which accomplishes the purposes of beings, and the practice of the nature of the Dharma that it brings forth, the Perfection of Wisdom, whatever form of meditation for accomplishment

Since it does not go beyond the two truths, one meditates without objectification; what is the object to be cut off by the clinging of this practice, namely the four truths; what is the basis that is more excellent than the practice of hearers, self-realizers, etc., namely the Three Jewels; what is the cause for the realization to increase from above, namely not being attached to the actions of the three doors; what is the cause for not turning back in the middle but going to the ultimate destination, namely not being completely tired; what is the cause for abandoning the Mahayana path and not going to the enlightenment of other vehicles such as hearers, namely completely holding the Mahayana path; without relying on others, what is the cause for knowing what should and should not be done by oneself and surpassing, namely the five eyes; what is the cause for perfecting all-knowing wisdom by doing the benefit of sentient beings and perfecting the accumulations, namely the six superknowledges; what is the cause for abandoning all adverse factors and reaching the ultimate of practice, namely the paths of seeing and meditation. All of these are taught at the time of instructions. Explanation of the Difficult-to-Realize Sangha. Fourth, the difficult-to-realize Sangha Jewel is explained in detail, in two parts: general meaning and branch meaning. The first has two parts: the fruit in which it abides, and the establishment of the person who abides in it. The first of these has five parts: the nature and number of the fruit, the certainty of the order, the cause of attainment, and what is attained in which realm. The first is: the fruit of the way of a renunciate, because it is the best of fruits. It is also the nature of abandonment and realization. Each of these also has eighty-nine, namely the four categories of what is abandoned by seeing in the desire realm, and the four categories of what is abandoned by seeing in the two upper realms, the eight separations of the eight abandoned, and the path of liberation of obtaining them, and the eighty-one fruits of abandoning the nine-nine of the great, medium, and small to be abandoned by meditation in each of the nine grounds, and the paths of liberation of obtaining them. Among them, the way of a renunciate is the uninterrupted path included in the uncontaminated, because it abandons afflictions and becomes a true renunciate, therefore it is called the way of a renunciate. Thus, it is also said in the sutra: Sins, non-virtuous dharmas, up to the many pacifications between growth, aging, and death.
