It is in the manner of showing the absence of inherent existence. The necessity is that by initiating the diligence of union, when diligently applying oneself to the meaning of the distinctions of the arising of the mind of enlightenment as has been explained, some dull-witted individuals will become attached, and this is to counteract that. What is it that counteracts it? It is the fault of the practitioner's own body and so forth, the actions of the three doors, being attached to as true. The sutra is: When a great bodhisattva practices prajnaparamita, whatever body, speech, or mind, from miserliness to the perversion of wisdom, the body and so forth that generate the mind are not perceived. Fifth, to counteract the laziness of sloth, the advice is to not be idle. What is it referring to? It refers to the laziness of sloth. How is it done? Not going beyond the two truths, from form to complete perfect enlightenment, if one clings to it as true, one will become weary, so it is in the manner of showing that there is no clinging to it as true. The necessity is that after initiating diligence, when diligently applying oneself to the meaning as has been explained, even a short time is considered a long time, and for some who are naturally timid, the practice of sadhana will become tiresome, and this is to counteract that. In what situation does one become weary? Even if one has become accustomed to union for a long time, it is because the desired meaning of enlightenment is not achieved. The sutra is: When a great bodhisattva practices the six perfections, he does not cling to form. Sixth, to counteract discouragement, the advice is to completely grasp the path. What is it referring to? It refers to complete grasping. How is it done? Not going beyond the two truths, it is taught: Understand that all phenomena are by nature unborn. The necessity is: In order to attain omniscience, there is nothing that a Buddha's son should not learn. Therefore, even for the Buddhas of the ten directions and so forth, one must receive the teachings of the path for each and every meaning. If so, how can I do that? Because discouragement will arise, this is to counteract it. Because within the prajnaparamita that realizes that all phenomena are by nature unborn, all the paths of omniscience are included, so there is no need to learn many paths, that is the meaning. The sutra is:

Endowed with such great wisdom, the great Bodhisattva can also see Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River in the eastern world, and can also hear them teaching the Dharma. Seventh, the instruction on the five eyes, which are the cause of independent practice, is: Instruction. The object of instruction is: the five eyes. The manner of instruction is: not deviating from the two truths, realizing Suchness as indivisible from elaborations, and teaching through practice. Among them, the five eyes need to be understood from their meaning, namely, their respective nature, boundary, cause, and the necessity of instruction. First, the flesh eye naturally determines the measure of objects in its respective field, its field being tangible objects, from one hundred yojanas to the three thousand great thousand worlds. As it is said: The flesh eye of a great Bodhisattva can see one hundred yojanas, and even see the three thousand great thousand worlds. In the Ratnavali, it says: Offering garlands of lamps to stupas, offering lamps in dark places, and offering lamp oil, one will obtain the divine eye. Thus, the divine eye, arising from the maturation of past virtuous deeds, has as its object the death and rebirth of all sentient beings. As it is said: With the pure divine eye, one truly knows the death and rebirth of all sentient beings in the eastern world, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River. The eye of wisdom has as its object not discriminating between the self of persons and the characteristics of dharmas in all dharmas. As it is said: Possessing the eye of wisdom, whether it is made or unmade, even not seeing any dharma, not hearing, not thinking, not comprehending, this is the pure eye of wisdom of the noble son, the great Bodhisattva. The Dharma eye has as its object truly knowing all noble beings such as the eighth-level bodhisattvas and those who have entered the stream. As it is said: The Dharma eye of the great Bodhisattva knows that this person is a follower of faith, and this person is a follower of Dharma. The Buddha eye can
