Because it arises from one's own contaminated actions, one realizes it is even more inferior; thinking, how can someone like us attain enlightenment among humans? Some disheartened individuals, when they see the light of the Tathagata's nature overwhelming the brilliance of the gods, think that even more than becoming human, one can attain the accumulation of merit through such qualities, thereby generating the courage to desire enlightenment. Even so, it is to please the gods. It is said that the chief recipients of the teachings on the wisdom of the path are the gods, so it is in terms of the principal ones. Secondly, regarding the two types of conditions, the cooperative condition and the closely appropriating cause, the first is the determination of the place, which shows that the wisdom of the path arises only in the continuum of those who generate the mind of enlightenment. This is also like this: generating the mind of enlightenment is because one wants to accomplish the benefit of the three types of beings to be tamed according to their capacity, so it is for studying the paths of the three vehicles. The second is pervasiveness, which shows that the Buddha-nature pervades all. Merely generating the mind of enlightenment and having Buddha-nature are not sufficient conditions for the wisdom of the path, because one also needs instructions and the corresponding factors of discernment that arise from proper attention. If one thinks this, it is true, but nevertheless, those are also included in essence, because abiding in Buddha-nature and generating the mind of enlightenment, one will inevitably seek the methods and instructions to attain enlightenment, and obtaining the instructions will also lead to proper attention to their meaning, because receiving instructions is also for the sake of meditating on their meaning. Secondly, the nature of the wisdom of the path is also twofold: the skillful means of great compassion and the wisdom that knows the three paths are unattainable. The first is shown through the nature of not abandoning afflictions and the activity of accomplishing the benefit of others, in order to eliminate the opposing factors of great compassion, which are the manifestation of the extreme of reality. Like this, there are two causes for manifesting the extreme of reality: being destroyed by the suffering of samsara and not rejoicing in the benefit of sentient beings. Those are eliminated by two dharmas in order. The four, such as the determination of the place, etc., are here, etc.

It is shown by the word "earth." Secondly, there are two types of realization: the realization of understanding the limb of leading others to follow, and the realization of manifesting the limb of self-maturation and liberation. In the first aspect, there are also two paths for following those of the Hearer lineage and those of the Solitary Realizer lineage. These are also shown by "What is the path of the disciple and the rhinoceros horn?" The Hearers are called disciples because they follow the sounds of others, while the Solitary Conquerors, like rhinoceros horns, are said to be rhinoceros horns because they dwell without companions like the horns of a rhinoceros. Secondly, there are two antidotes: abandoning one aspect and abandoning all aspects. The first is the path of seeing, which is shown through the expression of the qualities of this life and others, and has great benefits. The second has two paths of meditation: the doer and the one who does. The first is the doer, such as "completely peaceful," and the second has two paths of meditation: the contaminated path of meditation of the subsequent attainment of purity, which is worldly in nature, and the uncontaminated path of meditation of the non-conceptual nature of meditative equipoise. The first of these has three aspects, the first of which is the path of aspiration, which causes ungenerated merit to arise, and its two benefits, the first of which is "aspiration," and so on. The second is that in order to generate joy in the Bodhisattva who meditates on it, it is praised, honored, and extolled in order through the three aspects of small, medium, and large. The second, the generator of merit, is the dedication of mind that transforms into a limb of enlightenment, such as "dedication." The third, which increases merit more and more, is rejoicing, such as "rejoicing mind." Secondly, there are two paths: the direct antidote of abandoning unfavorable factors, the uninterrupted path, and the path of liberation that manifests the liberation of what has been abandoned, or the two paths of accomplishing qualities and completely purifying unfavorable factors. These are also, in order, "accomplishment and extreme purity," and "that action is the path of meditation." The determination of the nature of each of these is explained in its own place, so it is not elaborated here. Secondly, the way it shows the path is: "The wise Bodhisattvas, the knowledge of the path is explained as such."
