Regarding the Path Knowledge that will definitely arise and the Path Knowledge that realizes the unborn nature of the three paths, the first is: It exists in the continuum of a Bodhisattva, not focusing on the ultimate truth, but experiencing the nature of the three paths as they are in the conventional truth, accomplishing the benefit of the three lineages, and not manifesting the true limit until the completion and maturation are cultivated. Among them, there are three types of Path Knowledge: Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas. The first two are the direct realizations to be abandoned as seen by the wisdom of a Bodhisattva, and the latter is the direct realization to be manifested. The second Path Knowledge is: It exists in the mind-stream of the Buddha, abiding inseparably in essence with the wisdom of omniscience. The fourth is the boundary of the ground: from the first ground onwards. Among the four aspects of the third, the Basis Knowledge, the first is the characteristic: directly realizing the basis of selflessness. The second is what it signifies: that is, knowing everything through it. The third is the distinction: that is, the basis of realizing the selflessness of persons and the selflessness of phenomena. The former is: having the sixteen aspects of the four truths, such as impermanence. The latter is: having the aspects of non-arising of form, etc. The former is the direct realization of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. The latter is the direct realization of Bodhisattvas. The former is also connected with the clinging to the characteristics of phenomena such as impermanence, and is held by non-conceptual wisdom. These are also, in order: Hearers and Solitary Realizers with the path in their own continuum, and Bodhisattvas who have generated increasing qualities. The former is: the Basis Knowledge of the unfavorable side, and the latter belongs to the category of the Basis Knowledge of the favorable side. The former exists only in the continuum of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, and the latter is also possessed by Buddhas and noble Bodhisattvas with increasing qualities, and belongs to the category of Path Knowledge and Omniscience. When distinguishing the types of direct realization, it is established as the type of direct realization of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. The Basis Knowledge that realizes the selflessness of the basis of phenomena is called the Favorable Basis Knowledge, and abides inseparably in essence with Path Knowledge and Omniscience. The fourth is the boundary of the ground: the Basis Knowledge of the unfavorable side exists in the path of seeing of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, and the Favorable Basis Knowledge starts from the first ground. The first of the four aspects in the fourth, all aspects, is the characteristic: freedom.
