If one considers the functioning one as the difference between the dharma and the dharmin that establish the eyes, etc., as working for the benefit of others, what fault would there be? If it is taken that way, then the collection is the dharmin. Your eyes, etc., being the object of non-aggregation, are contradictory signs that prevent the distinction of the dharma that establishes working for the benefit of others. That which is the object of non-aggregation, which is the distinction of the dharma that you establish, is harmful to the thesis of the object of desire that you establish by preventing it on the eyes, etc. That is the dharmin. Your eyes, etc., being the object of non-aggregation, are contradictory signs that prevent the distinction of the dharmin that establishes working for the benefit of others. That which is the object of non-aggregation is the distinction of the dharmin that you establish. That you prevent it on the eyes, etc., is harmful to the thesis of the object of desire that you establish. Therefore, not only does the sign contradict the thesis of the object of desire, but there are also other faults. As Master Vasubandhu and others have said, regarding the Samkhyas establishing the eyes, etc., as working for the benefit of others, since others desire the self, if the self is expressed by the words "self" and "other," then the self is not established in the example. Similarly, there is also the fault that the one who works for the benefit of the self does not follow in the similar example for establishing that. The collection is the dharmin. The dharma to be established that you establish, that the eyes, etc., work for the benefit of others, does not follow in the similar example. That which works for the benefit of the self is the dharma to be established that you establish. Because that which works for the benefit of the self is not established in similar examples such as clods of earth. If that which works for the benefit of the self is the thesis, although it is the appropriate time, since it is not actually stated, it is not the thesis of the object of desire for establishing that. The collection is the dharmin. What is the thesis of the object of desire that you establish, that the eyes, etc., work for the benefit of others? It is non-existent. When the opponent and the debater argue about what the eyes, etc., work for the benefit of others, what is it that you place as the basis of the argument to be established? Because that which works for the benefit of the self is not the thesis of the object of desire that you establish. If the object of desire is the thesis and nothing else, saying so verbally
