Because there is no subsequent establishment on other things. If it is said that it is because it is distinguished by the difference of sound, then, only impermanence, as the subject, because it is distinguished by sound, it is not correct that there is no subsequent establishment on things other than sound, because it is distinguished by the sound preventing unrelated things, that is, by non-existence exclusion. Therefore, there are two kinds of exclusion: non-existence exclusion and other-existence exclusion. If impermanence is distinguished by sound by other-existence exclusion, there will be the fault of not being established on other dharmas. Because impermanence is distinguished by sound by non-existence exclusion, it will not be that there is no subsequent establishment on any other dharma. If it is said that the mere generality of impermanence has already been established on lightning and so on, therefore, establishing the mere generality of impermanence on sound by what is made will become the fault of establishing what has already been established. Then, what is made, as the subject, the mere generality of impermanence is what you have established on sound, therefore, it is not correct that you become the fault of establishing what has already been established on sound, because for you, on sound, the mere impermanence is the means of proof that is not established by non-existence exclusion. Therefore, the dharma impermanence, which is distinguished by the subject sound, does not have the fault of not being established on things other than sound. By showing the desired object as the object to be established, this can eliminate the Vaibhashikas' view that the sign of what is made is contradictory to the establishment of sound as impermanent, because on the subject sound, the other general meaning of the dharma impermanence distinguished by the subject sound, and the other general meanings of the subject sound distinguished by the dharma impermanence, etc., are prevented by what is made. The reason is that what is made does not establish such a collection of two other meanings on the subject sound. That itself is established, what is made, as the subject, because you have prevented such a collection of two other meanings on the subject sound, therefore, you are not a contradictory means of proof for establishing sound as impermanent, because you do not want to establish such a collection of two other meanings on this subject sound, but only want to establish the impermanence that is devoid of other general meanings. These have shown the necessity of the exclusion of mentioning the desired sound, and now showing the necessity of the distinction of mentioning the self-sound, is the branch of

In the nature of things, stating the word "self" is meaningful, because, for a phenomenon like sound, the inner and outer scriptures establish many phenomena such as permanence, the qualities of space, and impermanence, but in debate, the meaning desired by the proponent himself is what is to be established, not the meaning of the scriptures not desired by the proponent, for the sake of understanding this. If someone asks, is there a meaning of the scriptures not desired by the proponent as what is to be established, or for what reason is the word "self" stated to eliminate it? Answer: Yes, because some sects of self and others think so. First, refuting the views of other sects is: Some other sects say, if the proponent has already promised the scriptures, then all the meanings of the scriptures must be considered as what is to be established, so in debate, if the reason put forward by the proponent causes great damage to a scriptural meaning, then it will become the fault of contradictory reasons and the cancellation of vows. If those proponents think so, then, what is made (conditioned phenomena) is the subject, when establishing that sound is impermanent, because the merit of fragrance being permanent is eliminated, it will also become a contradictory reason for establishing that sound is impermanent, because by eliminating it, it will cause damage to the scriptural meaning of colored phenomena. If someone says, because it is not the time to establish the merit of sound having fragrance, so it will not become that fault. Then, that is not established, because by preventing sound from having the merit of permanence and space, the reason for establishing sound as impermanent is not contradictory, because it is not the time to establish the merit of sound having fragrance, which is the same for the merit of permanence and space. If someone asks, the phenomenon sound, is it relevant at this time of establishing sound as impermanent, and the merit of permanence and space is also the phenomenon of sound, so it is relevant, is it so? Answer: For things, sound and the merit of permanence and space, just because the scriptures say that there is no connection between phenomenon and nature, do you think that there is a connection between phenomenon and nature between the two? Then, what is made causes damage to the merit of sound permanence and space, for this, the reason why what is made becomes a contradictory reason for establishing sound as impermanent lies only in damaging the meaning of the scriptures, so the fault of "when establishing sound as impermanent" still exists. If someone asks, because it is the phenomenon of the phenomenon sound, and is the same as the general aspect of what is to be established, so it is like the phenomenon to be established, is it so?
