If someone says that by using "earth" etc. as proof, you are attacking the assertion that "sound is permanent," claiming that your argument for "sound is impermanent" is flawed. Then, for the refuter, the way the desire to infer the object to be proven arises, and how others understand this way, is as follows: During a debate, when an external refuter believes that sound is permanent, or has doubts, and asks for proof, etc., in some situations, the desire to infer the object to be proven arises in the refuter's mind. This is because, in those situations, they rely on those situations to present the proof for the object to be proven. The refuter's presentation of the proof for the object to be proven, etc., makes it possible to realize that in the refuter's mind, there is a desire to infer the object to be proven. This is so that you do not misunderstand these things. Therefore, if there are none of the reasons mentioned above, and the refuter of "sound is impermanent" insists that you believe that "sound is permanent" is the proof for "sound is impermanent," then this becomes like clearly exercising power, like the actions of an evil king. Furthermore, using "subject of dharma" etc. as proof is unreasonable. Because the arguer for "sound is impermanent," as the subject of dharma, if you use reasons such as "not being one aspect of the general object to be proven that has the characteristic of a result," then you will not mistakenly believe that he is arguing that "sound is permanent" is the proof for "sound is impermanent." Because he argues for this, and proves this, it will be harmed by the obviously established mistake, i.e., presenting the argument for "sound is impermanent," etc. Furthermore, if what is made harms the meaning of the scriptures of your assertion that "sound is permanent," then what harm is there to the object to be proven of the argument for "sound is impermanent"? There will be no harm, because if there is no permanent dharma, impermanent dharma will not arise. If what is made harms "sound is permanent," then because it harms the scriptures accepted by the refuter, the reason presented by the refuter is not a correct argument. If you say this, then, it harms the scriptures that show sound is permanent, therefore it is not contradictory to the argument for "sound is impermanent." Because it is the correct argument of the nature-force-entering to prove this. Generally speaking, it is also said that arguments and inferences of nature-force-entering, in order to accomplish their own sphere of activity, do not need to rely on scriptures.

If so. Furthermore, the impermanence of sound that you establish cannot be altered by the scriptures that demonstrate the permanence of sound, and this is well established. The reason is as before. If, when analyzing the realm of things established by their own nature with reason, the opponent does not rely on treatises, then will the opponent abandon the scriptural basis of the debate? Opponent, as the subject, when analyzing the realm of things established by their own nature with reason, the opponent does not have the fault of abandoning the scriptures he has promised, because at that time there is no promise of scriptures. Or, scriptures, as the subject, at such a time, even if the opponent has promised you, it is not a part of the refutation, because this is the method by which the opponent promises you. If, when analyzing the realm of things established by their own nature with reason, one does not promise scriptures, then when does one promise scriptures? As said before, without relying on scriptures, with the reason of things established by their own nature, after the two realms of direct perception and inference are completely purified and determined, when analyzing the very hidden places such as heavens, that is the subject. It is the time when one completely holds the pure treatises, that is, when one considers them as valid, because if one does not promise scriptures as valid, then there is no opportunity to act in the very hidden places, because that is the time. When analyzing the very hidden places, the opponent will harm the meaning that contradicts the scriptures of the treatises that he has promised as valid, because for the meaning established by the scriptures that he has promised as valid, he thinks it contradicts those scriptures, so he cannot promise. Also, in the third place, the realm of scriptures, when speculative analysis shifts to the very hidden places, it is reasonable to promise the treatises as valid, because when one promises the scriptures as valid, the scriptures will become a refutation. Therefore, even when the scriptures become a refutation, it is also the case that for the meaning of the established connection between the dharma to be established at that time and non-existence, the reason for harm should be abandoned, but not the reason for harming the meaning of other unrelated scriptures. If it harms the object of desire to be established at that time, the reason will become contradictory, and if it harms the meaning of unrelated scriptures, the reason will become contradictory, then the contradictory reason will be endless and will be too extreme. Furthermore, analyzing the realms of manifest and hidden, etc.
