Because there is no dispute for both sides regarding the special objects, namely dharmas, that I have ascertained through my own analysis. If you say that the word "self" indicates that the dharma, which is the subject of debate, is already established for both sides, thereby stating that it is not to be established, then, regarding knowable dharmas, it is not necessary to mention the word "self" there in order to eliminate the already established dharma from being what is to be established, because the very words "its own nature, i.e., only its nature is to be established," which are stated in the definition of the subject, will make that meaning understood. The reason for this is that because the external opponent may have doubts that those that are shown as already established and as the nature of the means of proof are what is to be established, therefore, in order to eliminate that doubt, the words "only its nature is to be established," which are stated in the definition of what is to be established, will become fruitful and necessary. If you say that the word "self" is mentioned in order to determine that the dharma's own characteristic is what is to be established, then, in this context of showing the definition of the subject, even if the word "itself" is not shown in order to eliminate that the dharma's own characteristic is what is to be established, there is not the slightest fault of non-pervasion or over-pervasion for the definition of the subject, because the dharma's own characteristic is not what is to be established, that is eliminated by stating it as the general object of inference in other contexts. Furthermore, if the dharma's own characteristic is taken as what is to be established, then what fault would arise from that? Why is the word "self" mentioned in order to eliminate it? The answer is that it cannot be established by a sign. Why? The answer is that the dharma to be established does not follow the example and the sign. This dharma to be established not following the example and the sign, this dharma, is not a fault of the subject, because it is a fault of the example and the sign, isn't it? Because it is. It pervades, because not all faults that rely on the example and the sign, the latter part from the limbs of the proposition, are considered faults of the subject. If you say that those are faults of the subject because they harm the establishment of the subject, then, even so, all the faults of the example and the reason, etc., dharma, will also become faults of the subject, because all of you also harm the establishment of the subject or are unable to establish it. Therefore, establishing as the means of proof
