If the pervasion of concomitance and contraposition related to things is determined by valid cognition, then at that time, the sign that indicates hidden things such as having fire will become the sign itself, and not otherwise. When it is realized from the sign of smoke that there is fire, then as the subject, inference will not specifically and separately realize all the hidden things such as the fire of grass and straw, and the blazing, because it only realizes the general nature of the fire that accompanies the smoke that indicates it. Therefore, as the knowable, the object to be measured, the establisher or measurer of hidden things, is definitely only inference, because any mind that arises on the subject from the dharma of the sign related to the dharma to be established is a valid inference. Therefore, as the object to be measured, there is no other you besides the manifest, that is, the manifest and the hidden, because you are determined to be both the manifest, which is directly apparent and recognized, and the general way of being recognized through inference. For that reason, since the object to be measured is determined to be both the self-characterized and the general, valid cognition is also considered to be determined as both direct perception and inference, and since it is seen that the object to be measured is determined to be both the self-characterized and the general, the number of many or few that determines the third, such as sound production, and only direct perception for valid cognition is eliminated, which is the summary of the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds. If the Lokayata says, generality and the next world, etc., as the subject, are not measurable, because they do not exist, like the son of a barren woman. Therefore, the object to be measured is only the self-characterized, so valid cognition is also only direct perception, then, the object to be measured to be examined is only the self-characterized, which I also admit, so it is a repetition of what has already been established. Furthermore, the beauty of the other shore, as the subject, does not exist, because generality, etc., is not measurable, which is uncertain in establishment, because things that do not exist are also determined by valid cognition. Through the oath, the second valid cognition, inference itself is established, because there is a valid cognition that determines what does not exist. If it is said that generality, etc., is not measured as non-existent by the direct perception of the sense consciousness, then the unerring sense-born consciousness, as the subject, does not apply as a measurer to non-existent things such as generality, etc.

Because it arises from the power of the external object of apprehension. If it does not depend on the power of the external object, then, the non-deceptive sense-born consciousness is a phenomenon, and it will arise even if there are obstacles such as the interval and stimulation of its own object and obscuration. If it is said that one does not admit that universals, etc., are measured by direct perception, and that it is certain that those do not exist from the contradiction of direct perception, then, the contradiction of measuring universals, etc., by direct perception is a phenomenon, and it becomes contradictory to establish that universals, etc., are non-existent. Because one cannot determine that universals, etc., are non-existent by oneself, but one can determine it by relying on you, this is impossible, because they are non-existent. If it is said that the fact that universals, etc., are not perceived by sense direct perception is itself the proof that universals, etc., do not exist, then, or the beauty on the other side, is a phenomenon, and it becomes established that the second valid cognition is inference. The fact that universals, etc., are not perceived by sense direct perception is itself the contradictory and concomitant sign that establishes that universals, etc., are non-existent, and also because one can understand the hidden meaning, that is, that there is mind in other beings who can speak. The latter proof is established, that is, the son of the beauty on the other side is alive, is a phenomenon, and the nature of that mind is certainly established, because it is applied to the expressions of body and speech such as speaking. Therefore, the consciousness that understands that others have minds from the sign of speaking is a phenomenon, and it is a valid cognition, because it is not deceptive with respect to its object of engagement. If, like inferring fire from smoke, one is not deceived by the sign with three aspects, but like proving that the taste of the myrobalan in front of one is astringent with silk thread, because one sees that some signs are deceptive, so one cannot rely on all signs, then, the beauty on the other side, is a phenomenon, because one sees that some signs are deceptive, it is not correct to say that one cannot rely on all signs with three aspects, merely because one sees that some signs are wrong or deceptive, one thinks that all signs with three aspects are deceptive like it, this is merely clinging. Therefore, all signs with three aspects will not deceive with respect to what one wants to establish at any time, like this, any sign will not deceive with respect to what one wants to establish at some time.
