It is not pervasive, because any ordinary dying mind is not connected to other minds, because it is a dying mind. Like the dying mind of an Arhat that you accept, if you say so. Then, the mind of an ordinary person at the time of death is the subject, it is not a sign that focuses on the contradictory of establishing it, because what contradiction is there in connecting with other minds? Because there is no contradiction. The dying mind of an Arhat, which you accept as an example of establishing it, is also the subject, from which valid cognition do you think it is established that it is not connected to other minds? It cannot be established, because valid cognition cannot establish it. If you say that although it is established by the valid cognition of one's own system, it is an example because it is said from the Buddhist system. Then, the Buddhist tenet or scripture is the subject, do you follow it and see the mind of an Arhat with valid cognition, or do you not understand it? Because it is a scripture with a meaning that cannot be established by valid cognition. If you say that the mind of an Arhat at the time of death is the subject, it is not connected to other minds, because the cause of that other mind, breathing and the senses, etc., are separated. Then, that kind of sign itself is the subject, why is it not said to be the establisher in establishing that the ordinary dying mind is not connected to other minds? Because it is reasonable to say so. Because the mind of an Arhat at the time of death is the correct sign of establishment. If you accept, then, breathing and the senses, etc., are the subject, because you are the cause of mental thought, that which is separated from you is not the correct sign of establishing that the ordinary dying mind is not connected to other minds, because you are not the cause of mental thought. The reason for that is that the senses, etc., whether individually or collectively, are not the cause of mental thought, because consciousness is the subject, like eye consciousness, it will clearly grasp form, because it is a consciousness that is actually born from the eye sense. As a result of this inference, that is the subject, it is not a consciousness that is actually born from the power of the eye sense, because it does not clearly grasp form. Similarly, mental thought is not born from each of the other senses, and it is not born from the collection of all the senses, thus, the five senses such as the eye are the subject, you all together,

Because the mind that grasps the pot cannot arise, because the ability to generate consciousness that grasps its own objects, such as form, etc., is seen to be different, but the ability to generate consciousness that grasps all objects is not seen. According to the second case, hair, nails, etc., which do not have sense faculties other than those with sense faculties, are also phenomena. You cannot generate consciousness from them, because their own result is mindlessness. If you say that the body with sense faculties and consciousness are the basis and the based, because they exist together, like a lamp and light, then these two are phenomena. Even if they are not the basis and the based, they can exist together, because the cause that throws the name and form is thrown together by a single previous karma. For example, like the five sense faculties such as the eye, like form and taste with the same aggregate of causes. If you say that the mind changes according to the changes of the body, so it depends on the body, the mind is a phenomenon. It is not dependent on it just because it changes according to it, because some of the blood, etc., of those killed are seen to change through the way of existing in the object. Furthermore, just helping it does not necessarily mean that it disappears when it disappears, its cause of disappearance is special. It disappears, then it disappears. What is that special cause? Any previous consciousness is a phenomenon. Whatever disappears, the later consciousness disappears, is the special cause of the latter, because it exists as a substance before the later consciousness, through the way they are helpers, it always follows it at that time, that is, follows you, because the cause exists first and the effect arises later. The sutra says: This existing, that arises; this arising, that arises. The seventh case of "this existing" and the fifth case of "this arising" indicate prior existence, and the first case of "this arises" and "this exists" indicates that the effect arises later. Such a cause-and-effect relationship does not necessarily exist in the body and mind of a newborn fetus, because it is not certain that it arises first and the mind arises later. Furthermore, at some times, the body is the immediate cause of the mind.
