It is fitting to be a teacher, because he directly sees, without any inversion, the true methods of acceptance and rejection, along with their means, for achieving the desired goal, and because he possesses the compassion to show it to others. If it were not so, and merely seeing far were the only measure, then those seeking liberation, come here, abandon those who know the means of pacifying suffering, and instead rely on vultures and wild boars, etc., who see far, as teachers. This is the concluding remark. Now, it is intended to explain the meaning of "possessing perfect intention, desiring to benefit beings." If someone asks, what is the proof of a valid person? Then, the great compassion, with the aspect of desiring to liberate all sentient beings from suffering, is the subject. It is the proof of a valid person, because its cause is perfectly complete. And from what cause does that arise? That (great compassion) is the subject. It does not arise from a causeless or dissimilar cause, but because it is accomplished from repeatedly familiarizing oneself with great compassion in many lifetimes. If the Lokayata (materialist) says: Compassion and so forth, are the subject. It is not accomplished by familiarizing oneself in many lifetimes, because it is cut off when the body is destroyed, because it relies on the body in terms of qualities and results, and so forth. Then, that (compassion and so forth) is the subject. It is not reasonable that it is not accomplished by familiarizing oneself in many lifetimes by relying on an independent body, because relying on it is prohibited by valid cognition. Furthermore, breathing, sense faculties such as eyes, and mind and intellect, are the subject. When ordinary people take birth in the womb, it is not reasonable that this body, which is of the nature of arising without relying on the previous similar kind, arises solely from this. If so, then elements such as earth and water would also excessively become breathing and sentient beings. Since breathing and so forth are seen as capable of connecting to the subsequent similar kind at the time of taking birth, what other additional cause would there be? And for what reason would it not connect to the subsequent similar kind after death, and not change? Ordinary breathing, etc., at the time of death, are the subject. A subsequent similar kind will arise, because its causes are complete and there are no obstacles. If it is said that because it is too far-fetched

The aforementioned statement is without fault. If someone says that sentient beings do not arise because some parts of earth and other elements lack the seed of sentient life, then all parts of earth and other elements are, by their nature, the seed of sentient life. If someone says that this is too extreme, the aforementioned statement is without fault. If someone says that sentient beings do not arise because some parts of earth and other elements lack the seed of sentient life, then all parts of earth and other elements should become the nature of the seed of sentient life. Because there is no part of earth and other elements in which warmth, moisture, or spontaneous birth, etc., do not arise. Therefore, if mind and senses, etc., arise solely from their own nature without depending on a previous similar kind, then, just as the elements of earth, etc., completely transform, all the elements of seeds should transform into living beings. Because there is no difference between the earth and other elements that transform into living beings and arising. Furthermore, if the mind is the same as the body (which will be refuted below), or if it is a different entity, then does it rely on a body without senses or a body with senses? If the former, then even a corpse and hair, nails, etc., should have mind. If the latter, then the mind does not depend on it. Even if each of the senses, such as the eyes, is harmed by circumstances, it does not harm you. Not only does the mind not depend on the body, but the body itself depends on the mind, so the senses such as the eyes also depend on the mind. Because if the mind changes due to desire, fear, sorrow, etc., you are also seen to change. Since the mind does not depend on the body, and the senses depend on the mind, therefore, according to our view, sentient beings arise with form senses due to the mind. Because the reason for the mind exists, as the basis of existence, some actions of the same kind as consciousness are the cause of the form senses, therefore. Such actions also depend on the previous mind, not on the body. Even after the ordinary person dies, the mind should become the impeller of the senses, etc., just as at the time of previous birth.
