Therefore, the mind that does not grasp objects during the duration of one breath, whether exhaling or inhaling, is the subject. It necessarily follows that it will not simultaneously grasp multiple objects. Reason: Because there is no contradiction to that, because it is a mind that arises without any order of precedence. If it were not so, then it would not gradually fail to grasp multiple objects either. Reason: Because it does not grasp them simultaneously, because there is no difference between before and after. If someone thinks that the body is permanent, therefore multiple substances arise sequentially, not from a previous similar kind, therefore the many sequential moments of breath with time are the cause of the many sequential minds, so there is no fault of arising simultaneously. Then, those breaths of exhaling and inhaling are the subject. How could they not arise sequentially? It necessarily follows that they will not arise sequentially. Reason: Because there is no cause for arising with a sequence of before and after, because they arise from a permanent body. If one wants to avoid that fault and thinks that it is its own previous similar kind, then when first born in the womb, it is the subject. There will necessarily be no breath arising. Reason: Because there is no cause for it to arise, that is, the previous similar kind. Because there is no birth before and after. Furthermore, even if we allow that there is a previous similar kind of breath, then one breath of exhaling and inhaling is the subject. It is necessarily multiple substances. Reason: Because it is coarse, its parts pervade multiple different places. For example, like a herd of livestock. Therefore, person, is the subject. Multiple minds will arise simultaneously in your continuum. Reason: Because its direct cause, that is, multiple permanent breaths, are nearby. If one thinks that the multiple parts of the breath that arise simultaneously are also of the same time, therefore it is only the cause of one mind, not the cause of many. Then, mind, is the subject. In cases of weak or interrupted breathing, etc., even if one part of the breath is incomplete, it will not arise. Reason: Because the collection of all parts of the breath is your direct cause. If one asks, how is the state of strong or weak breathing, etc., the direct cause of mind? Consciousness, is the subject. Due to the difference in the strength of breathing, you will also have differences in clarity and obscurity. Reason: Because it is the direct result of breathing.

For that reason. It pervades: Any consciousness, which is the subject, is the result of that breath, because the increase and decrease of any breath are different, so it becomes different in increase and decrease. If you think that the later consciousness is closer than the former consciousness, then why don't multiple consciousnesses arise simultaneously? The former consciousness, which is the subject, is the only cause of the later consciousness, because you are sure to have the ability to produce the later consciousness. The reason is established, knowable, which is the subject, the later consciousness is produced from the ability of the former consciousness, because from the former blue consciousness, clinging to other yellow things, therefore, by eliminating the ability of the direct cause, the wisdom that does not cling to other blue things does not arise. If initially in the womb, consciousness arises simultaneously from the body, and later it is determined that the later arises from the former of the same kind, so there is no fault of multiple consciousnesses arising simultaneously. Body, which is the subject, why does your ability to produce consciousness change later? It should not change. Because you also had the ability to produce consciousness before, and there is no difference between before and after. If a being, which is the subject, after death the body also changes, then the only consciousness will become independent of the body and exist freely. Because it is not its basis. There are two situations here: The dying moment of a being who is about to be born in the desire realm and form realm, which is the subject, after death this consciousness is not independent of the body and exists freely, because the cause of the existence of your consciousness stream in the next life, that is, the consciousness at the time of death, that body of the next life, is the closely taken body at the time of death, in order to obtain the result of producing the body of the next life, it becomes its co-operative condition. If the consciousness at the time of death is not a part of the body of the next life, that is, the co-operative condition, then after death it will become independent of the body and exist freely, like the consciousness at the time of death of a being who is about to be born in the formless realm. If the consciousness at the time of death is the co-operative condition of the body of the next life, then what is its closely taken cause? The moment when the five sense organs such as the eyes of this life are about to be destroyed, which is the subject, the body of the next life
