Because you also need to benefit each of the subsequent abilities for the same reason. If you think that by seeing the effectiveness of actually benefiting your own particular dharmas, etc., you regard and ascertain your own particular dharmas, etc., as special and having specialness, then it is unreasonable. Because you have not seen the effectiveness of actually benefiting your own particular dharmas, etc. If this is not established, then your ability will be infinite. The summary of these meanings is: The ascertainment (valid cognition) that sound is impermanent is the subject. If your sound is considered and ascertained to be beneficial to the impermanence of sound, then all the particular dharmas of sound will be considered and ascertained. If your sound is considered and ascertained to be beneficial to the impermanence of one sound, then the particular dharmas of that sound, such as being produced, etc., will all be seen and ascertained by proving all the effectiveness of benefiting. Because not seeing the effectiveness of sound benefiting the impermanence of sound, and the effectiveness of benefiting the particular dharmas of sound, such as being produced, etc., are not other things, but the one self. If it is said that although the previous sound conceptualizations consider by way of establishing the own-character, but in order to dispel the mistake of mistaking other dharmas and superimposing, the subsequent other sound conceptualizations also enter into the nature considered by the previous sound conceptualizations, therefore there is no fault of becoming the self-nature of name-categories. Then, the subsequent sound conceptualizations that enter into sound are the subject, and should be established as having an object of exclusion, i.e., elimination. Because it enters in order to dispel superimposition on its own opposite. The previous sound conceptualizations that are different from the subsequent one are also the subject, and should be like the subsequent one, becoming having an object of exclusion. Because it enters after speaking and ascertaining an object that does not superimpose on its own opposite. Moreover, there are other faults. The previous conceptualizations of sound that enter into sound and ascertain sound are the subject. How could the object of the subsequent sound conceptualization be your object? It should not be. Because you enter by virtue of ascertainment, and you have not ascertained what the nature of the object of the subsequent sound conceptualization is. If that is the case, then direct

If someone asks, why is it that direct perception, even after seeing the moments of its own nature, is still uncertain? This is because direct perception is not of the nature of certainty, while inference is of the nature of certainty, so they are not the same. This is to illustrate this point. Taking the direct perception that grasps sound as the subject, although you grasp it by establishing the distinguishing characteristics of sound, that is, by abandoning the distinguishing characteristics of sound that are separate entities, you still cannot pervade certainty, because for the distinguishing characteristics of sound, as long as there is no obstacle to the arising of understanding and certainty, and there is a favorable condition, then it will lead to the arising of understanding and certainty. This is to illustrate the refutation of the debate in the Sutra of the Compendium of Topics. The Vaibhashikas and others say, if 'exclusion' and 'reversion' are the same meaning or different meanings? If they are the same meaning, then it is not appropriate to connect the dharma and the possessor of dharma with different words. If they are different meanings, then you also have the fault of using a common meaning on other things. If someone asks this, then for things that have the meaning of eliminating sound, there is also the statement that the exclusion that reverts from other different kinds is the cow itself, and the reversion that returns from other different kinds is the cow, and the minds that are certain in this way are the subject. You are not established merely because the exclusion and reversion of the object cow are different entities, because you are merely following the convention of the speaker who wants to express it. They say, if exclusion and reversion are the same meaning, then it is not appropriate to connect the sixth case word, saying 'the cow-ness of the cow,' because the sixth case word is only used when the dharma and the possessor of dharma are different things. If someone asks this, then although the word 'cow-ness' and the word 'cow' both express the same thing to be expressed, even so, cow-ness is the subject. By distinguishing the dharma and the possessor of dharma with the sixth case word 'the cow-ness of the cow,' you have a reason to show that you are establishing something different from the cow, just as you are showing it, because it is to distinguish the distinguishing characteristics of the cow to be expressed from other things, that is, to especially show you. If exclusion and reversion are the same meaning, then it is not appropriate to use different expressions for the dharma and the possessor of dharma, if someone asks this, then answer directly that the basis is the object. Why? Because by the action of sound, in the object of the mind, the distinguishing characteristics of the cow are like one's own abandoning and avoiding other things as dharma.
