If it is said that they are not the same because they exist in a permissible place and do not exist in a permissible place, then what is this called "existing in a permissible place"? If it is said that they are able to exert influence on each other, then how is it known that the particles exert influence on each other at the time of aggregation? It is because the results such as consciousness are seen, because such results are not seen from the aggregation of unparalleled particles. If it is said that in order to generate consciousness, particles rely on each other, then what is the basis for this statement? It is because consciousness arises in dependence on the senses and objects, and those are also the nature of the accumulation of minute particles, because it is said in the sutra that "the twelve sources are the accumulation of minute particles." But this is also unreasonable, because even if it is meaningless, it is not contradictory to nominally establish the terms of senses and objects even in the mere mode of consciousness. As it is said: The nature of inner knowable things, whatever appears as an external object, is meaning, because it is the nature of consciousness, so it is also its cause. And, whatever is the nature of the power of simultaneous action, is also the sense faculty, and that is not contradictory to consciousness. As it is said. The imputed senses and objects nominally reside on the aggregation of form, and the aggregation of form is also nominally the nature of the accumulation of many particles of matter made of elements and derived from elements, so the sutra says that the twelve sources are the accumulation of minute particles, but it does not say that minute particles are the real senses, because reasoning would hinder it. In this way, there is no meaning in coarse and subtle, so there is no object other than consciousness, and because there is no object, there is also no subject that grasps it, because those are established in dependence on each other. Therefore, the terms of grasper and grasped are merely conceptualizations. If it is said that although there is no external grasper and grasped, why is there no internal grasper and grasped of the nature of consciousness? If the grasped is different from the grasper, then it becomes an external object, not consciousness; if it is not different, then it becomes merely a nominal imputation of grasper and grasped on one consciousness. If it is said that the grasped is also another consciousness and the grasper is also another consciousness, then,

So, in this way, is the apprehended object of the nature of cognition established as one or many? First, it is not a class, because it appears with parts such as the east, and because it can be distinguished into many. Even if it exists in many, are the subtle particles of knowledge in contact or not in contact? If we examine this question, then for the proponent, the faults of establishment will be the same, so it is not a class. Therefore, what appears as blue, yellow, etc., if analyzed with reason, should not be something other than knowledge, so ultimately it should be knowledge. As it appears in front of the grasper, neither inner knowledge nor external objects are established, because like illusions, etc., although they do not exist, they appear in front of a confused mind. Therefore, the grasper and grasped of knowledge are also not analyzable. Thus, having generally refuted those who speak of grasper and grasped, after that, we will separately refute those among the Vaibhashikas who say that things simultaneous with knowledge are grasped, and those among the Sautrantikas who say that the form prior to knowledge, which is the cause of creation, is grasped. Among these, first, in order to show the refutation of the first view, it is said that appearance is not an object because it is experienced simultaneously with clarity. Whatever is clearly experienced is not something other than knowledge, like happiness, etc. Blue, yellow, etc., are also clearly experienced. It cannot be uncertain with lamps and appearances, etc., because those are also the same as what needs to be proven. If it is objected that it is uncertain because there is no contradictory mark, then it is not so. Because material things must be illuminated by the knowledge of their object, this is the contradictory measure here. Like this, whatever is of the nature of clarity does not depend on other illumination, like a lamp. Things that have become material phenomena are not of the nature of clarity because they depend on the object to illuminate them. If you say, doesn't the lamp, although it is of the nature of clarity, depend on the object to illuminate it? No, because for the lamp, the nature of self-illuminating knowledge is to be established. If blue, yellow, etc., are of the nature of clarity, therefore they do not depend on other illumination, then the forms in the dark, because they are self-illuminating, so lamps, etc.
