This is the Truth of Cessation. The realm of Dharma is naturally pure, free from adventitious defilements to be abandoned, and is also the Truth of Cessation. Secondly, the classification includes two types of Nirvana: the Nirvana of the Lesser Vehicle and the Great Vehicle. The first type is further divided into Nirvana with Remainder and Nirvana without Remainder. The first is like killing thieves without destroying the village. An Arhat eradicates the last of the afflictions, ceasing them in such a way that they will not arise again. However, the contaminated aggregates have not yet ceased. This is the Separate Analytical Cessation with Remainder of the contaminated aggregates. Just as after killing the thieves, the village is naturally destroyed, by abandoning the activities of life, the stream of consciousness is cut off, and the contaminated aggregates completely cease. This is the Separate Analytical Cessation without Remainder of the aggregates. As it is said, in the Sutra it says: "With an unaging body, experiencing feelings, his mind is liberated, like a lamp extinguished." This is Nirvana with Remainder. It also says: "Where the body is destroyed, feelings cease, perception is pacified, and consciousness is extinguished, this is the end of suffering." This is Nirvana without Remainder. The Nirvana with Remainder of the Great Vehicle is the two types of Form Bodies. The Nirvana without Remainder is the Dharmakaya of the Buddha, who, having abandoned afflictions with wisdom, does not abide in the extreme of samsara, and whose compassion for the benefit of others is continuous, not abiding in the extreme of peaceful Nirvana. As it is said, when the three bodies are accomplished, "Nirvana with aggregates is a description of the two Form Bodies, because it is free from all aggregates, the Dharmakaya has no aggregates." This is what is said. The characteristics are: the characteristics of the Truth of Cessation as described above are cessation, peace, excellence, and liberation, which are four in total. These are, in order, cessation because all afflictions have ceased, peace because the fire of suffering is completely pacified, purity because afflictions have been abandoned, and happiness because suffering has been alleviated. Therefore, it is the most excellent object of desire for those who wish for liberation, and it is the basis for lasting benefit, therefore it is liberation. Fourth, explaining the Truth of the Path, it is divided into four parts: the basis, the definition, the general preliminary of the path, and the detailed explanation. The first part is the collection of antidotes that ripen the continuum.

The path of accumulation, as well as, the path of application that is the antidote to afflictions, as well as, the path of seeing that partially eliminates afflictions, as well as, the path of meditation that completely eliminates afflictions, as well as, the path of no more learning that is the complete elimination, these five are the paths. Knowing the exhaustion of afflictions as exhaustion, knowing the non-arising of suffering as non-arising, these two knowledges of exhaustion and non-arising are also the distinctions of the path of no more learning. Among these, the two, the path of accumulation and the path of application, and the contaminated path of meditation are paths, but not the truth of the path, because they are contaminated. The path of seeing and the uncontaminated path of meditation, the path of no more learning, are the truth of the path. Second, the characteristics are: path, reason, practice, and deliverance. These also in order, because they gradually lead to the city of liberation, therefore it is the path. Because it is the antidote to eliminate afflictions, therefore it is the reason. Because it accomplishes the mind without error, therefore it is the practice. Because it permanently liberates from existence and unfailingly leads to the state of permanence, therefore it is the deliverance. Third, the common preliminaries of the path are five, namely: generating the three wisdoms, abiding in solitude of body and mind, abandoning the eight worldly dharmas, relying on the twelve qualities of purification, and abandoning the five wrong livelihoods. First, in the stage of the path of accumulation, one meditates on the four mindfulnesses, the four right abandonments, the four legs of miracles, that is, the four three twelve aspects of the path. How to meditate on the method? As it is said: "Discipline is like the seed and the non-seed ground, it is said to be the basis of all qualities." Thus, abiding in the discipline of the seven types of individual liberation, one should turn away from all misdeeds of body, speech, and mind, and after that, one should listen through listening to the scriptures that are in accordance with the realization of the truth, and analyze the meaning of listening with reason, and with the wisdom born of thought of proper attention, one should apply to the meditation of focusing the mind on the meaning of thought. What are those three wisdoms of listening, thinking, and meditating? The wisdom of listening has the object of mere name, the wisdom of thinking has the object of both name and meaning, and the wisdom born of meditation has the object of mere meaning. So say the Vaibhashikas.
