. In the middle and the end, the faculties and the powers, and the factors of ascertainment, two by two. Thus it is. The third, the path of seeing, is the nature of the seven branches of enlightenment. The object of this is the suchness of the four noble truths. The method of cultivation is that with the branch of enlightenment of right mindfulness, one focuses on suffering and seeks its emptiness; one focuses on the origin and seeks its freedom from attachment; one focuses on the cessation of suffering and seeks its realization; one focuses on the path leading to the cessation of suffering and seeks its cultivation. The method of cultivation of the remaining six is also the same. The essence is the mindfulness that does not forget the object of the path of seeing, the wisdom that distinguishes the suchness of the Dharma, the diligence that delights in virtue, the uncontaminated joy that benefits body and mind, the perfect pliancy that makes body and mind workable, the samadhi of one-pointedness of mind, and the equanimity that engages without imbalance due to dullness or excitement. The way they become limbs is that mindfulness is the limb of the basis, because its power keeps the limbs from being distracted from the object. Discrimination of Dharma is the limb of nature, because it is the essence of the non-conceptual wisdom of the path of seeing. Perfect pliancy and the other three are the limbs of non-affliction, because what makes one free from affliction is perfect pliancy, what is free from affliction is samadhi, and what is the essence of non-affliction is equanimity. Thus it is also said, in the middle and the end, the limb of nature, the limb of the basis, the third is the limb of definite emergence, the fourth is the limb of benefit, the three are the limbs of non-affliction. Thus it is said. The fourth, the path of meditation, is cultivated as the nature of the eight limbs of the noble path. This also has an object, and the method of cultivation is the same as before, and the essence is the right view that accomplishes in the subsequent attainment the characteristic realized in the equipoise of the path of seeing, and the right thought that arises from the speech that teaches others as one has realized, and what is taught to others as one has realized, aroused by that, is the speech of pure verbal action.

And, the pure actions of the body, such as refraining from killing, are the correct livelihood; the pure actions of body and speech, such as refraining from flattery and hypocrisy, are the correct livelihood; in order to abandon all that is to be abandoned by meditation, because the antidote to them is correct effort; and the correct mindfulness that does not forget the reasons for calm abiding, insight, and equanimity; and the path factors that become the correct samadhi, which is cultivated in order to eliminate the obscurations of special qualities such as clairvoyance. All of these are obtained through the power of meditative equipoise on the path of seeing, so they are established as being on the path of seeing, and they manifest in practice, so their nature is established as being on the path of cultivation. The result is the abandonment of what is to be abandoned by meditation. These eight branches also transform into four branches, as follows: correct view is the branch of completely cutting off, because it is considered to be "this is it" as it is realized in meditative equipoise. Discrimination is the branch of making understood, because it is the cause of arousing speech that establishes things as one has realized them. Speech, the limit of action, and livelihood are the branches of making trustworthy, because one trusts in view, discipline, and pure livelihood in order. Effort, mindfulness, and samadhi are the branches of the antidote to the unfavorable, because they are the antidote to the afflictions to be abandoned by meditation, the afflictions close to dullness and excitement, and the unfavorable conditions for accomplishing special qualities such as clairvoyance, in order. As it is said: Complete cutting off and making understood, the other three make trustworthy, the antidote to the unfavorable, are the eight branches of the path, view and discipline and requisites, one desires to make various expressions to others, afflictions, afflictions close to the power of afflictions, are the antidote to the unfavorable. The Vaibhashikas, from the establishment of mindfulness, the seven groups between the eight branches of the noble path are, in order, the establishment of mindfulness, the accumulation path, and the four correct abandonments and the four legs of miraculous power, the five faculties and the five powers are the four aspects of the joining path such as warmth, and the seven branches of enlightenment are the path of cultivation because the path of cultivation is close to enlightenment, and between the eight branches of the noble path is
