It is the aspect of imputation, existing merely in name, and if examined, it has no inherent nature. As it is said, in the Thirty Verses: 'Whatever things are conceptually constructed by various conceptualizations, that very nature of what is thoroughly constructed is non-existent.' Thus it is said. It is divided into two: the imputation of name and the imputation of completely severed characteristics. The first is other-powered nature, which is the basis for superimposing self and phenomena, hence it is called the imputation of name, and it is not a characteristic. The second is the various names of the nature of persons and phenomena, which are merely imputed by the minds of children, hence it is called imputation, and it has no inherent nature whatsoever. Although it is not established as self-nature, the non-veridical conceptualization that arises from causes and conditions is called other-powered nature, because it is subject to other causes and conditions, or because it arises as a dualistic appearance due to the power of habit, it is the power of others. As it is also said, in the Thirty Verses: 'Whatever is the object of other-power, is conceptualization, arising from conditions.' Thus it is said. It is divided into pure other-powered nature and impure other-powered nature. The first is the pure worldly wisdom of the post-attainment of the noble ones, which is pure because it has abandoned manifest clinging by the power of meditative equipoise, and it is called other-powered nature because it arises as a dualistic appearance by the power of habit. The minds and mental factors of children that appear as dualistic are impure other-powered nature. The thoroughly established nature is the emptiness in which the other-powered non-veridical conceptualization is not established as persons and phenomena are imputed by children from the beginning, as it is said, in the Thirty Verses: 'Establishment is prior to it, whatever has always become non-existent.' Thus it is said. It is also divided into immutable thoroughly established nature and non-inverted thoroughly established nature. The first is also divided into naturally pure and stainless pure. The first is the nature of phenomena in the state of impurity. The second is the nature of phenomena in the state of extreme purity. That immutable thoroughly established nature, the non-conceptual wisdom of meditative equipoise that is manifest in the manner of non-duality, is called non-inverted thoroughly established nature. The Mind-Only school is also the imagined.

Among the two aspects of the Mind-Only school, the first is: For example, just as patterns of calico cloth, etc., appear on a clear crystal ball, consciousness, like a crystal ball free from tarnish, is not stained by the defilements of the apprehended and the apprehender. Due to the power of habit, it appears as various apprehended and apprehender. Therefore, the appearances of external objects such as form, etc., are not truly established as either things or consciousness, so they are merely conceptual constructs. That's what they say. The proponents of the reality of appearances (rnam bden pa) assert that consciousness itself arises with the characteristics of objects such as form, etc., from the cause of habit, so other aspects of consciousness are considered to be the nature of consciousness. The divisions of the perfectly established (yongs grub) are: the unchanging perfectly established, and so on. What is the unchanging perfectly established? It is the Dharmadhatu. What is the non-inverted perfectly established? It is the wisdom that realizes the Dharmadhatu. The proponents of the reality of appearances assert that external objects such as form, etc., are the nature of the mind that truly appears, and the appearance as the two, apprehended and apprehender, is a delusion due to the power of habit. The proponents of the falsity of appearances (rnam rdzun pa) assert that external objects such as form, etc., are delusions and do not actually exist as entities, just as when the eyes are deceived by cataracts, hairs, etc., appear in the sky where they do not exist. According to both the reality and falsity of appearances, the appearance as the two, apprehended and apprehender, is a delusion, and the knowledge of non-duality, the self-aware and self-illuminating, is the ultimate truth. Moreover, that knowledge is momentary and indivisible, for if it were not, it would be no different from the self of the Samkhya school. If asked, how do you know that the appearance as the two, apprehended and apprehender, is a delusion? Because objects such as blue, etc., and the consciousness that possesses those objects are not different entities. If one is apprehended, the other is also apprehended; if one is not apprehended, the other is also not apprehended. Therefore, it is certain that one consciousness apprehends both simultaneously. This is the reason. Moreover, objects such as form, etc., are consciousness because they are clearly experienced, like happiness, etc. Through these reasonings, it is established that the two, apprehended and apprehender, do not exist. Fourth, explaining the tenets of the Madhyamaka school: The noble Nagarjuna, Shantideva, Aryadeva, glorious Chandrakirti, and others of the Madhyamaka school establish knowable things through the two truths. Among them, the apprehended such as form, and those
