The consciousness of grasping is true in the face of the confusion of terms, therefore it is the conventional truth. The wisdom of the noble ones in equipoise, realizing the Dharmadhatu, realizes the Dharmadhatu itself as emptiness, free from grasping and clinging, and free from elaboration, is called the ultimate truth. This is the meaning: Regarding things, the meaning understood by the consciousness of terms of ordinary people, and the nature understood by the correct wisdom of the noble ones, these two are grasped as two. If the noble ones and ordinary people understand the nature of things in the same way, then the difference between being liberated from the bonds of attachment and not being liberated would not be reasonable. As it is said, in the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning": "The world is blinded by ignorance, following the stream of craving, how can the virtues of the wise, who are free from craving, be equal?" As it is proclaimed. Therefore, the meaning understood by ordinary people is called the conventional truth, and the meaning understood by the wisdom of the noble ones is called the ultimate truth. As it is said, in the "Entering the Middle Way": "Seeing all things as false, one obtains the nature of the two truths, what is seen as real is the ultimate, and the seer is said to be false, the conventional truth." As it is proclaimed. Therefore, the meaning understood by ordinary people is that which arises from causes and conditions, dependent arising, free from the four extremes, such as form, etc., all the phenomena that are the basis for establishing terms for worldly people. This is called the conventional truth because ordinary people cling to it as true. Illusions and dreams, etc., are merely conventional and not true, because they are not established as true in the world. As it is said, in the "Entering the Middle Way": "Whatever is perceived by the six unimpaired senses is understood by the world, what is accepted as true in the world is true, and the rest is said to be reversed in relation to the world." As it is proclaimed. That conventional truth is also established as true for ordinary people who are obscured by the dimness of ignorance. For the noble ones, it is merely conventional and cannot be called true, even in the subsequent attainment.

Because it is seen as false like an illusion. It is also said thus: Because ignorance obscures its own nature, it is the conventional truth. Whatever appears as false as true because of it, that is said by the Thus-gone One to be the conventional truth. Things that have become false are the conventional truth. As it is said. In the Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning, arising and refutation, etc., are only appearances of consciousness, and do not exist outside. Then, what about the four elements, etc., that are said to be external objects? The elements such as earth and the derivatives such as form are spoken of with reference to the apprehended aspect of consciousness that appears there and there, and because they are completely included in the nominal consciousness of the appearing one, it is said that they do not exist outside. In the Commentary on the Awakening Mind, it is also said: Just as a magnet moves iron, so too, because of the power of the all-ground consciousness completely holding it, the dependent body also completely moves, so the body and enjoyment appearing as places, etc., are all said to be appearances of the all-ground. The teacher Chandrakirti and others establish the conventional truth based on worldly conventions, and in the Entering the Middle Way, it is said: As you accept other-powered things, I do not accept the conventional truth, as said by the Able One, to remove worldly faults, the world says this exists, I speak according to the world. As it is said. The all-ground consciousness is of provisional meaning, but not of definitive meaning, because in that it is said: The all-ground consciousness and the person, and only the aggregates, as it is said, are for those who do not understand the extremely profound meaning. As it is said. If the all-ground itself is the agent of places and bodies, etc., then why should it be said that Ishvara is the cause? The cow is the cause of bezoar, the crystal is the cause of water, the tiger skin is like the branches, that is the cause of all sentient beings. As it is said. It is the same as Ishvara being considered the agent of all things, Ishvara is permanent and the all-ground is impermanent, this is only the difference. As it is said. Again, in the Entering the Middle Way, it is said: The dry firewood of knowable objects, when burned and extinguished, is the Dharmakaya of the Victors, at that time there is no birth or death, the cessation of mind is the actual manifestation of that body. And in the Engaging in Bodhisattva Deeds:
