The location is like this. Therefore, the class of gods is extremely vast. In the hollows below Mount Meru, there are cities of Asuras (non-gods), and the wealth of those (Asuras) is comparable to the glory of the Thirty-Three. If asked, to which class of beings do those Asuras belong? (Some say) most belong to the realms of pretas and animals. This statement is incorrect because it lacks reliable sources. Therefore, in general, (Asuras) are said to be beings of the deva realm. To say in the Mindfulness Sutra that these are animals is like scolding a foolish person as an ox, which is not correct. On the summit of Mount Meru is the abode of the Thirty-Three Gods. On the four sides of Mount Meru, there are four towers rising five hundred yojanas high, where Yakshas holding vajras reside. In the center of the summit of Mount Meru is the city of the gods called Sudarshana, each side being two thousand five hundred yojanas long, and two and a half yojanas high, being of golden nature. The foundation is decorated with various colors, the touch is as soft as cotton, it leaves a mark when the foot is lifted, and it sinks when placed down, possessing a soft nature. In the center of the city is a palace called the Supreme Victory Palace, the abode of the Lord of the Gods, Shakra, made of jewels, its splendor overwhelming all other abodes, each side being three hundred and fifty yojanas long. Outside the city, on the four sides, are four gardens where the gods play, namely the Mixed Grove Garden, the Harsh Garden, the Mixed Garden, and the Joyful Garden. Outside these gardens, separated by twenty yojanas, there are also four beautiful places where the gods play, competing with each other. In the northeast corner of the city is a foundation called the All-Gathering Tree, the most excellent place of joy desired by the Thirty-Three Gods. Its roots extend five yojanas downward, and its height is eight yojanas. The branches, leaves, and petals cover a range of fifty yojanas. The fragrance of its blooming flowers and petals

It borders on a hundred yojanas in the gasu area, and fifty yojanas in the non-pastoral area. In the southwest, where the gods reside and contemplate what should and should not be done, there is a gathering place for the gods called the Good Dharma Hall. As it is said: There, those who hold bowls, those who are always intoxicated, and those who hold garlands, the gods of the four great kings reside. On the summit of Mount Sumeru are the Thirty-Three. Its face is eighty thousand. In the center of the four overlapping corners, the abode of the one who holds the vajra, is the city of Delightful to Behold. Its face is two thousand five hundred. Two and a half yojanas are made of gold. Its nature is beautiful, soft, and well-arranged. Outside are various vehicles, mixed with rough groves, adorned with joy. Outside of these, divided by twenty, the land is excellent. In the northeast corner is the general assembly, and in the southwest corner is the Good Dharma Hall. Thus it is. The abode of the gods who rely on the earth is thus. Above the Thirty-Three, there are immeasurable palaces of the gods who dwell in the sky. There, four of the six heavens of desire dwell in the sky, namely the Heaven of No Strife, the Heaven of Contentment, the Heaven of Enjoying Emanations, and the Heaven of Controlling Others' Emanations. The way these six desire gods engage in sexual activity is as follows: the lower two engage in intercourse like humans, the Heaven of No Strife merely embraces, the Heaven of Contentment holds hands, the Heaven of Enjoying Emanations smiles, and the Heaven of Controlling Others' Emanations relieve the suffering of sexual desire by looking at each other. In the lower two, semen flows from the vaginal door in the form of wind, not as a coarse substance. Above the Heaven of No Strife, there is no production of semen. The way they are born is as follows: the retinues of the four great kings are about the size of a five-year-old child, the Thirty-Three are about the size of a six-year-old child, the Heaven of No Strife is about the size of a seven-year-old child, the Heaven of Contentment is about the size of an eight-year-old child, the Heaven of Enjoying Emanations is about the size of a nine-year-old child, and the Heaven of Controlling Others' Emanations is about the size of a ten-year-old child. They are born miraculously on the lap of either parent. The beings of the desire realm are mostly born naked because they have little shame, while the gods of the form realm have complete bodies, clothing, and
