Chapter Two. Chapter Two. Second, the specific explanation of contaminated phenomena, divided into two: the result included in the truth of suffering, and the cause included in the truth of origin. The first is further divided into two: explaining the outer world of containers and contents, and explaining the process of the formation, duration, destruction, and emptiness of kalpas. First, explaining the outer world of containers and contents, including the outer mandala of the container world, the inner arrangement of the dependent world, and three common characteristics of these. The first includes the ground of wind, water, and gold, and the formation of mountains, continents, and oceans. First, this realm of the three-thousand great-thousand world is believed to exist in this way. Due to the power of the karma of sentient beings, the mandala of wind is manifestly formed below the container world. Its dimensions are 6,600,000 yojanas in height and immeasurable yojanas in circumference. This is calculated using the last of the sixty numerical places, not derived from the uncountable. It is so solid that even a great vajra cannot destroy it. Above it, due to the power of the karma of sentient beings, clouds gather and rain falls, turning it into a mandala of water. Initially, the height of the water is 11,200,000 yojanas. This water, due to the stirring of the wind arising from the karma of sentient beings, turns into gold on top, like the cream that forms when boiling milk. The remaining height of the water mandala is 800,000 yojanas, and the remaining height of the gold mandala is 320,000 yojanas. The width of the water and gold mandalas is 12,350,000 yojanas. The circumference of the edge of the water and gold is calculated as three times these, amounting to 3,635,000 yojanas. These are also stated in the Treasury of Knowledge: 'In that container world, below what is established, the height of the wind mandala is six million kotis. The height of the water is eleven kotis and twenty thousand. Afterwards, the height is eighty thousand kotis, the remainder becomes gold. Of the water and gold mandala.'

Directly speaking, it is one hundred and twenty million, three thousand, and five hundred, that's all. The circumference is three times that, as it is said. Secondly, the shapes and sizes of the three supports: mountains, continents, and oceans, are as follows: On top of the golden wheel, Mount Meru and the seven golden mountains, together with the surrounding mountains, make up nine mountains. That is, in the center is Mount Meru, surrounded by the seven golden mountains with small iron fences, and outside of them is the surrounding mountain encircling the ocean. Between the seven golden mountains and the surrounding mountain, there are seven inner seas and one outer sea, making a total of eight seas. In the four directions of the outer sea, there are four great continents and eight sub-continents, making a total of twelve continents encircling like small towns. What are the materials of these nine mountains? What are their sizes? Mount Meru, the four directions, namely north, east, south, and west, are respectively composed of the nature of the four jewels: gold, silver, lapis lazuli, and crystal. Whichever jewel is on the surface of Mount Meru, its power causes the sky above that surface to also appear in the color of that jewel. It is said that because one side of Jambudvipa is lapis lazuli, its light causes the sky to appear blue. The size is that above the gold there is water, in which the lower part measures eighty thousand yojanas submerged, and above the water level there are also eighty thousand yojanas, with each side of the surface being eighty thousand yojanas square. Above the water level of Mount Meru, there are four terraces, and the distance from the lower terrace to the upper one is ten thousand yojanas each. Therefore, the part above the water level of Mount Meru is less than half. The width of these terraces is sixteen thousand yojanas for the first, eight thousand for the second, four thousand for the third, and two thousand for the fourth, all protruding outward from the core of Mount Meru. It is said that their state is either extending outward or shrinking like a stupa. The former is said, but the latter is not mentioned. The first seven mountains are of the nature of gold, and the last surrounding mountain is iron. The names of the first seven mountains are Inner Enclosure Mountain, Axis Holder, etc., which are easy to understand. Continent
