And abide in, and generate the idea of teaching all Bodhisattvas, praising their merits in the four directions, because of not desiring the Lesser Vehicle, all those who cause sentient beings to mature, cause them to truly grasp the unsurpassed, perfectly complete and correct enlightenment, these are the four light-drinking Buddhas. Thus it is said. Second, in terms of accomplishing favorable conditions, practicing the six perfections, and the method of meditating on tranquility and insight, the first of the two has seven points: the nature of the six perfections, the temporary and ultimate fruits, the way they arise, the order, classification and summarization, the way of purification, practice, and meaning of the words. The first is: giving up the lord of inner and outer, holding the precepts of restraining from prohibited and natural faults, enduring the harm to body and mind without any concern, diligence in rejoicing in virtue, meditation with the mind dwelling on the object, and wisdom that distinguishes the general and specific characteristics of all dharmas, practicing the six perfections properly. The second is: giving enables one to obtain great enjoyment in the future, discipline brings the happiness of gods and humans, patience brings a beautiful appearance, diligence brings splendor, meditation pacifies afflictions, wisdom liberates from the two obscurations, and love achieves all benefits for oneself and others. The third is: these perfections arise one after the other, based on the previous one. If one does not care about body and enjoyment because of giving, then one takes precepts. If one has discipline, then one can endure harm with the four qualities of a renunciate. If one has difficult endurance, then one will strive for the benefit of others. From diligence, meditation arises. Because of abiding in meditation, wisdom arises that knows things as they truly are. As it is said, in the teachings on discipline: What is the difference between the ocean and the footprint of an elephant? The difference between giving and discipline is like that. According to the way it is said, because the previous ones such as giving are inferior, and the later ones are in a superior position, the order is certain. The fourth is: the classification of giving includes: food

Giving and so on are divided into three: giving clothes and so on is material giving, protecting others from fear is fearlessness giving, and teaching the Dharma with an unadulterated mind is Dharma giving. Discipline is divided into three: that which is gathered by the seven types of individual liberation vows is the discipline of vows, that which is gathered by the six perfections is the discipline of gathering virtuous Dharmas, and that which benefits others through the four means of gathering is the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. Patience is divided into three: accepting harm to body and mind is the patience of accepting suffering, individually discerning the two selflessnesses with the three wisdoms is the patience of contemplating the Dharma, and not being discouraged by hardships is the patience of not caring about harm. Diligence is divided into three: not being discouraged by the vastness of what is to be accomplished is armor-like diligence, striving in application as if wearing armor is diligence in application, and delighting in benefiting sentient beings is diligence in benefiting sentient beings. Meditative concentration is divided into three: generating the bliss of pliancy in body and mind is the meditative concentration of dwelling in bliss in this very life, knowing the means of benefiting others temporarily and ultimately is the meditative concentration of accomplishing qualities, that is, accomplishing the six superknowledges, and benefiting sentient beings through the six superknowledges is the meditative concentration of benefiting sentient beings. Wisdom is divided into three: knowing the individual and general characteristics of phenomena is conventional wisdom, knowing the reality of the two truths is ultimate wisdom, and knowing the means of benefiting others temporarily and ultimately is wisdom that benefits sentient beings. If these six are summarized, some say that the first five are the accumulation of merit, and the sixth is the accumulation of wisdom. However, the first three are the accumulation of merit, the last two are the accumulation of wisdom, and diligence is the accumulation of both. The fifth is that for any of the six, such as giving, being like an illusion, without clinging to the three spheres of giver, giving, and recipient, one goes beyond samsara to unlocalized nirvana, hence it is called paramita. The sixth is that for each of the giving and so on, one practices the six perfections completely, such a person is a supreme being. That is
