As explained in the Treasury of Knowledge. Third, combining the four states with the eight grounds: In the eight grounds of the Hearers, the ground of seeing white is the path of accumulation, because it is the virtue of conforming to liberation. The ground of lineage is the great patience and supreme dharma of the path of joining, because after obtaining these, one will not regress to other vehicles; below the middle patience, one may regress to Pratyekabuddha, and in the heat and peak, one may also regress to the Mahayana. In the Treasury of Knowledge, it says: "The two who have turned away from the lineage of learning will become Buddhas, and the other three will also." The eighth is the stream-enterer, because it is the eighth of the fourth pair counted from the Arhat. The ground of seeing is the fruit of the stream-enterer, because it is the fruit of complete seeing of the reality of truth, and it is an extremely distinguished fruit. The thin ground is the fruit of the once-returner, because it is mostly free from desire, and it is an extremely distinguished fruit. The ground of being free from desire is the fruit of the non-returner, because it is free from desire for desire, and it is an extremely distinguished fruit. The ground of having done is the fruit of the Arhat, because it is the fruit of the complete practice of the three trainings. The ground of the Hearer is the once-returner, etc., and the remaining three, such as the stream-enterer, because the realization of the Hearer is expressed by other names, so the general name will be understood as a specific name, and it is a component of the Hearer's realization. Second, regarding the way of realization of the Pratyekabuddha, there are two meanings: general and specific. First, in the general meaning, it includes lineage, path, perfect enlightenment, retinue, place, wandering, and explanation of terms. First, the lineage of the Pratyekabuddha has three characteristics. First, by nature, afflictions are less, so they do not like noise and like to be alone. Second, compassion is less, so they do not engage in activities such as teaching the Dharma to benefit sentient beings, but only abide in a small compassion. Third, the faculties are medium, and driven by pride, they have no teacher and want to become enlightened without rivals. Second, there are also three ways to learn the path. First, some who abide in the lineage of the Pratyekabuddha, in a hundred kalpas, the Buddha appears.

In order to please the Buddhas, to mature one's own continuum into Bodhi, and to attain self-Bodhi in the future, one should be skilled in the six things. The second case is that, when it is uncertain when a Buddha will appear, in order to please the Buddhas, relying on a superior person, listening to the superior Dharma, relying on proper attention, generating the part of discernment at the teacher's place, but in this life one cannot realize the Dharma, nor can one attain the fruit of a Shramana. In order to attain these in the future, one should be skilled in the six things. The third case is similar to the previous one, but one realizes the Dharma at the teacher's place, realizes any of the first two fruits, but cannot realize the latter two fruits. In order to realize the latter two fruits in the future, one should be skilled in the six things. The way the third case is truly accomplished is: the first path will become a rhinoceros-like solitary Buddha. The second and third paths will become solitary Buddhas who practice in the Sangha. The fourth is the difference of the Sangha: the rhinoceros-like solitary Buddha accumulates merit for a hundred eons, while for those who practice in the Sangha, the time for accumulating merit is uncertain, because some Shravakas may transform during this period. Some people say that all three cases accumulate merit for a hundred eons, which is unreasonable, because the cause is the same, and it is unreasonable for the result to be good or bad. Some people also say that for the two cases of Sangha practice and collective practice, the difference in accumulating merit lies in the sharpness or dullness of the faculties, which is also unreasonable, because there is no evidence. The fifth is the dwelling place: everyone likes the profound Dharma of the mind, strives to separately contemplate the profound dependent origination, and dwells on the three doors of liberation. In terms of body: the rhinoceros-like solitary Buddha dwells alone, while others dwell with the Sangha. The sixth is wandering: no matter which city or town they rely on and live in, they protect their bodies very much, subdue their senses very much, beg for alms in cities and so on, and even when they are compassionate to those who are inferior to themselves, they teach the Dharma with their bodies, not with words, and in order to avoid disputes, they do not show various miracles. The seventh is the common explanation of terms: without scriptural authority
