essence of the non-conceptual wisdom of the path of seeing. The three, such as perfect training, are limbs without afflictions, because that which makes one without afflictions is perfect training, that which is without afflictions is samadhi, and that which is the essence of being without afflictions is equanimity. As it is also said in the Madhyāntavibhāga: \"A limb of nature, a limb of abiding, the third is a limb of definite emergence, the fourth is a limb of benefit, the three are limbs without afflictions.\" The fourth, the path of meditation, is cultivated in the nature of the eight limbs of the noble path. Here too, the object and the method of meditation are the same as before. And the essence is: Right view, which completely ascertains the characteristics realized in the equipoise of the path of seeing in the subsequent attainment; right thought, which is the speech that arises from showing others as one has realized; right speech, which is the purification of the actions of speech by showing others as one has realized, having been prompted by that; right action, which is the purification of the actions of the body, such as killing; right livelihood, which is the purification of the actions of body and speech, such as flattery and hypocrisy; and because one abandons all that is to be abandoned by meditation, right effort is the antidote to that; right mindfulness, which does not forget the reasons for calm abiding, special insight, and equanimity; and right samadhi, which is cultivated for the sake of removing the obscurations of special qualities such as clairvoyance, are the limbs of the path of attachment. Since all of this is attained through the power of the equipoise of the path of seeing, it is established as existing from the path of seeing, and since it is made manifest in meditation, its essence is established as the path of meditation. The result is the abandonment of what is to be abandoned by meditation. These eight also become four limbs: Thus, right view is a limb of complete ascertainment, because it examines, \"This is it,\" as realized in equipoise. Thought is a limb of understanding, because it arises from the speech that establishes things as one has realized them. Speech, the limit of action, and livelihood are limbs of faith, because, in order, view, ethics, and livelihood are..." } ] ============================================================

Because of complete faith. Exertion, mindfulness, and samadhi are the limbs of the antidote to the unfavorable, sequentially becoming the antidote to the afflictions to be abandoned by meditation, the afflictions of dullness and excitement, and the antidote to the unfavorable for accomplishing special qualities such as direct perception. As it is said: Complete cutting off and knowing, and the other three cause faith to arise, the antidote to the unfavorable, these eight branches are the branches of the path, view and discipline and resources, declaring to others to make them know desire, the power of the afflictions close to the afflictions, is the antidote to the unfavorable. Thus it is said. The Vaibhashikas believe that, from mindfulness onwards, the seven sections up to the eightfold noble path are sequentially the mindfulness close establishment accumulation path, right abandonment, the four miraculous legs, the five faculties, and the five powers are the four application paths such as heat, the seven branches of enlightenment are the meditation path because they are close to enlightenment on the meditation path, and the interval of the eightfold noble path is the path of seeing, the path of seeing is the wheel of Dharma, and the eightfold noble path also through means such as quick travel, because it is in accordance with the wheel jewel. Thus it is said. In the Treasury it says: Because of quick travel etc., spokes etc. It also says: The seven sections are sequential, karma is the first etc., and the determinative part conforming etc., well distinguished on meditation and seeing. The fifth non-learning path is, knowing suffering, abandoning arising, realizing cessation, the undefiled wisdom of cultivating the path, and knowing suffering, now there is nothing to be known, from cultivating the path, now there is nothing to be cultivated. These undefiled wisdoms are sequentially the knowledge of exhaustion and the knowledge of non-arising, with these the non-learning path is brought to completion, because the work of the path is completely perfected. Secondly, there are three ways in which realization arises in the continuum of the practitioner: a brief explanation of the general way in which the path of seeing and below arises, a detailed explanation of the way in which the paths of the hearers and solitary realizers arise separately, and a conclusion with the way in which the two samadhis arise in common. The first is the accumulation path.
