Distinguishing them individually. Both of these relate to objects that need to be examined, thus they are definite objects. The eleven virtues are: faith, conscientiousness, shame, non-attachment, non-hatred, non-ignorance, extreme pliancy, diligence, perseverance, equanimity, and non-harming. Among them, faith is: believing in karma and the four noble truths, etc., is trusting faith. Rejoicing in the mind towards those with qualities such as the Three Jewels is joyful faith. Seeking cessation and the path is aspirational faith. Because one possesses lineage and wisdom, etc., thinking that one should not do evil, having regard for oneself, is conscientiousness. Thinking that it is not good for one's own evil deeds to be known by others, therefore having regard for others, is shame. Not being greedy for and not accepting the enjoyment of body, food, clothing, etc., and not having a universally harmful mind towards other sentient beings, is the nature of loving-kindness. Through the three wisdoms of birth, hearing, and contemplation, truly knowing the nature of things as they are, these three are, in order, non-attachment, non-hatred, and non-ignorance. Perseverance means that the mind is delighted in the virtues of body, speech, and mind. Extreme pliancy means: making the body and mind able to be used for virtuous deeds. Diligence means guarding the mind from all afflictive dharmas, and cultivating and perfecting worldly and transworldly virtues. Equanimity means: maintaining equality in meditation, the mind is not disturbed by sinking and excitement, and naturally enters into a state of equality. Non-harming means: not offending others with body and speech, not causing harm, is part of non-hatred. These eleven virtues are like good medicine, because their nature is born pure, so they are virtues of nature. The six afflictions are: desire, anger, ignorance, pride, doubt, and wrong view. Relying on these six afflictions, proximate afflictions will arise, therefore they are called root afflictions. The nature of wrong view is wisdom affliction.

It has. That is, with the distinction of object and aspect, there are five such as the view of the collection of fears. Among them, desire is: attachment and clinging to the body of the three realms, the aggregates of appropriation, and the necessities of life. Anger is: constantly tormenting suffering, and sentient and non-sentient beings from which suffering arises, such as poison and weapons, and thinking of harming them. Ignorance is: not knowing the nature of all dharmas of the aggregates, realms, and sources, and thus being confused about self and what belongs to self. The view of the collection of fears is wisdom, so the aspect is clear; this is the nature of unclear conceptualization, so it is different. Pride is being arrogant and acting in a lofty manner. Due to the difference in the cause of arrogance, pride becomes seven types: pride, great pride, pride of pride, I am pride, excessive pride, wrong pride, and slight pride. The first is: in terms of lineage and knowledge, etc., oneself and one's qualities are equal, thus one becomes arrogant, thinking that one is equal. The second is: in terms of lineage, etc., oneself and oneself are equal, thus one becomes arrogant, thinking that one is superior. The third is: in terms of lineage, etc., oneself is superior to oneself, thus one becomes arrogant, thinking that one is superior. The fourth is: from the perspective of viewing the aggregates as self and what belongs to self, one becomes arrogant. The fifth is: for virtues such as meditation that have not been attained, one becomes arrogant, thinking that one has attained them. The sixth is: for non-virtues, one becomes arrogant, thinking that one possesses virtues. The seventh is: compared to those who are extremely superior in virtues, etc., one thinks that one is only slightly inferior. Doubt is: having doubts about whether the truth, karmic results, and the Three Jewels, etc., are or are not, exist or do not exist, etc. Among them, the view of the collection of fears is: the wisdom that truly observes the five aggregates of appropriation as self and what belongs to self. It is divided into two types: innate and imputed. The first is: for all sentient beings, the thought of "I" arises at all times and places, as it is said in the Commentary on Valid Cognition: "Because one does not want to become happy or suffer, whatever is the thought of 'I,' arises simultaneously with sentient beings." The second is: the fault of bad friends.
