Thinking about the suffering of each and every sentient being, under the practice of compassion, recognize that all sentient beings have been one's parents and relatives, without exception. Then, also cultivate compassion for them, practicing giving and taking. As it is said in the Compendium of Trainings: "Relatives are trapped in the ocean of samsara, appearing as if fallen into a deep abyss. Because of the transmigration of birth and death, they are unrecognizable and abandoned. If one were to attain liberation alone, there would be nothing more shameful than that." It is said. In particular, as mentioned above, knowing full well that all sentient beings have been one's mothers, yet not remembering their kindness, abandoning them and only wanting to attain liberation alone is a shameful thing. As it is said in the same text: "A baby cannot give birth to itself while in the womb. Whose milk drips and is drunk due to the force of love? Who diligently exerts effort and gives care? Even after countless generations, who would be willing to abandon them?" It is said. Therefore, from beginningless time, these kind mothers who have bestowed benefits more than once are deluded by the demons of the three poisons, their minds are not at peace, they have lost the eye of discerning what to accept and reject, and they lack the guidance of a virtuous friend who shows the path to higher realms and liberation. Although they desire happiness, they only create suffering, and these beings teetering on the edge of the precipice of samsara and the lower realms, thinking of them, one feels pity and repeatedly practices giving and taking. By practicing in this way, a superior intention arises that is able to bear the burden of striving for the benefit of others, and thus one diligently generates the mind of enlightenment. And the mind of enlightenment also has two aspects: its nature and its divisions. First, in this way, through the power of familiarizing oneself with compassion, vowing to lead all sentient beings, the nature of the mind of enlightenment that aspires to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment arises naturally, without needing to be fabricated. As it is said in the Sutra of Ten Dharmas of the Noble One: "Having seen sentient beings who are without protectors, without refuge, without islands, generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Even more than allowing others to correctly grasp it, a Bodhisattva can generate the mind of enlightenment, but this is because it is oppressed by great compassion, and the Bodhisattva himself will also go towards enlightenment.

The arising of the mind [of enlightenment] is extremely profound. The Bhagavan declared it from the Samadhi of the Wisdom Mudra of the Noble Tathagata. Even without possessing the mind of enlightenment, one has great fruition within samsara, as the Bhagavan declared in the liberation of Maitreya. Son of good family, for example, even if a diamond jewel is broken, it still surpasses all excellent gold ornaments. It does not abandon the name of a diamond jewel, and it also reverses all poverty. Son of good family, similarly, even if one does not possess the diamond jewel of the mind of enlightenment aspiring to omniscience, it still surpasses all the gold ornaments of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. It does not abandon the name of a Bodhisattva, and it also reverses the poverty of samsara. Thus it is said. Whoever is unable to train in all the perfections in all ways and at all times, even that person should generate the mind of enlightenment with skillful means, for the sake of great fruit. In the Sutra of Advice to King, it says: Thus, great king, you have many tasks and much to do. If you cannot train in the perfection of generosity, and so forth up to the perfection of wisdom, in all ways and at all times, then, great king, if you desire complete enlightenment, and have faith, diligence, and aspiration, whether you are walking, sitting, lying down, awake, eating, or drinking, always remember this without interruption, keep it in mind, and meditate on it. Gather all the roots of virtue of the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and all ordinary beings, and of myself, past, future, and present, and rejoice in them with the supreme rejoicing. After rejoicing, offer them for the purpose of making offerings to the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Shravakas. After offering, share it in common with all sentient beings. Then, for the sake of all sentient beings attaining omniscience, and for the sake of perfecting all the Buddha's dharmas,
