Satya. How is it? Does this refutation refute from the basis of refutation? Or is it that this fault of arising without dependence is also the same for you? Abandoning both, there is no other distinction. You, the Madhyamika, with the refutation that prevents the establishment of cause and effect by their own nature, does it refute from the basis of refutation? Or, if you examine it as refuting without dependence, wouldn't the fault mentioned earlier also occur to you? Abandoning the two distinctions, there is no other distinction in the form of refuting the basis of refutation by refutation. Therefore, speaking in this way and completely destroying only one's own side, at that time you cannot refute the basis of refutation. When one speaks in this way, one's own side will be destroyed in the manner described above, because your own refutation, by the force of refuting the basis of refutation, will cause cause and effect to become established by their own nature. When it becomes like that, you, the Madhyamika, cannot refute the basis of refutation, the establishment of cause and effect by their own nature. Furthermore, with the rebuke of having the same fault in one's own words, because of unreasonably slandering all things, you will not be approved by the noble ones, and will you argue by following the refutation without having your own side? Regarding this, it has already been said that one's own words also have the same fault. If any cause arises without dependence, it will produce all the effects of non-dependence, or nothing will arise at all, which is unreasonable. Thus, although it is the same without dependence, the iron attraction of a magnet existing in a suitable place is not everything, and similarly, the sight of form existing in a suitable place only where the eye does not depend is not everything, just as the cause, even if it produces an effect without dependence, does not produce everything that is not dependent, but only produces the suitable effect. In that way, you are slandering all things without reason, therefore you will not be approved by the noble ones. Furthermore, you will also become someone who argues by following the refutation, because you are separated from establishing your own side and are only engaged in refuting the other side. Second, the reason for disagreement.

Furthermore, regarding the exposition: By the refuter, whether the refuted is in contact or not in contact, what fault is there in saying, "The refuter is established"? It is certain that for those who have a tenet, for the proponent who has a tenet, because it is not established, it is impossible for it to become a fault. By the refuter, whether the refuted is in contact or not in contact, the fault of this being the same as one's own statement, for the opponent, whoever says that both the refuter and the refuted are established by their own nature, it is certain that this fault will occur for those who say they have a tenet, because there is no other possibility. For us Madhyamikas, since both the refuter and the refuted are not established by their own nature, there is no proponent of our own. By the refuter, even if the refuted is in contact, it cannot be refuted, and even if it is not in contact, it cannot be refuted. Therefore, it is impossible for the fault of one's own statement being the same to occur. As it is said in the sutra: "O venerable Subhuti, is it possible to attain or be attaining the unarisen dharma by the arisen dharma? Or is it possible to attain or be attaining the unarisen dharma by the unarisen dharma?" Subhuti replied: "O venerable one, I do not think that the unarisen dharma can be attained or is being attained by the arisen dharma, nor do I think that the unarisen dharma can be attained or is being attained by the unarisen dharma." Shariputra asked: "O venerable Subhuti, is there no attainment and no realization?" Subhuti replied: "O venerable Shariputra, there is attainment and there is realization, but not in the manner of the two. O venerable Shariputra, attainment and realization are established in conventional truth, and the stream-enterer, the once-returner, the non-returner, the Arhat, the Pratyekabuddha, and the Bodhisattva are also established in conventional truth, but in ultimate truth, there is no attainment and no realization." Thus, it is extensively taught. This sutra refutes attainment and being attained in ultimate truth, and acknowledges attainment and being attained in conventional truth. Similarly, the refuted and the refuter are neither in contact nor not in contact, but in conventional truth, it should be understood that the refuter refutes the refuted. Furthermore, from the refuter who is without inherent existence, manifestly
