Since we engage in all things universally and do not abide on the extreme of annihilation, we abandon permanence and annihilation and abide in the Middle Way. When the realm of phenomena, free from all elaborations, is directly realized, although there is no engagement in acceptance and rejection due to being free from all disputes, there is no fault of annihilation, because all discriminations have been abandoned, and the connection of cause and effect is not seen. Since worldly conventions and the conventions of other proponents of tenets are equally false, why do Madhyamikas accept worldly conventions but not those of the proponents of tenets? Worldly conventions are the sphere of activity of those who have not discriminated, so they can be accepted without establishing them by reason. Therefore, accepting them does not contradict the Madhyamika's position of being free from all sides, and it is also possible to guide the world through them. All proponents of tenets establish their own positions after establishing them by reason, so their conventions cannot be accepted without establishing them by reason. Even if some tenets are accepted after establishing them by reason, the Madhyamika's own position will be damaged. Therefore, although they are equally erroneous, Madhyamikas accept worldly conventions, but not the imputed conventions of the proponents of tenets. Just as worldly conventions are accepted as a means of guiding the world, is it also reasonable to accept the tenets of others in front of others in order to guide other proponents of tenets? If, in order to gradually lead those of inferior intelligence into the teachings, one temporarily accepts the tenets of higher tenets and refutes the tenets of lower tenets, there is nothing unreasonable about that. However, at that time, the speaker is not speaking Madhyamika, because he refutes others by making the tenets of any substantialist school the reasonable side. This system is like some doctors who gradually give patients medicines that ripen the disease, gather it, extract it, and prevent it from recurring, thereby curing the disease. The two truths as explained above, with the system of being without inversion

Relying on it to block all clinging views is like using a powerful medicinal pill to completely eradicate all diseases at once; this should be understood in this way. Explaining the Intention of the Mind-Only School. Third, explaining the intention of the Mind-Only School has three points: explaining the intention of the *Ten Bhumi Sutra*; showing that form and mind are the same in existence or non-existence; and explaining the meaning of other sutras as well. The first point is: if even if it is unreasonable, one accepts conventional truth for fear of worldly harm, then one must also accept the Mind-Only view for fear of scriptural harm. As it is said in the *Ten Bhumi Sutra*: "He thinks to himself, 'These three realms are only mind, and all the twelve branches of existence that the Tathagata has distinguished and taught are also dependent on one mind.'" Therefore, the meaning of the word "only" is that it prevents form itself, and only consciousness is proven to be true. This is what the Mind-Only School says. Refuting this, there are two points: explaining that the word "only" has the meaning of preventing other agents; and explaining that mind is more important than form. The first point also has two aspects, the first of which is: the meaning of the sutra is not as you think it is. So what is it? Therefore, it is explained: The manifest, the approaching Bodhisattva, Whatever is realized as the three existences are only consciousness, For the sake of realizing the blocking of the permanent self and agent, He realizes that the agent is only mind. Because he approaches the realm of Dharma and manifests it, he is called manifest, that is, the Bodhisattva who abides on the sixth ground realizes that the three existences are only consciousness. The meaning of what is said is that the Bodhisattva, in the subsequent attainment, knows that the agent of external and internal phenomena is not the truly existing mind of the nature of complete imputation, therefore he realizes that the agent of the permanent self is blocked. Therefore, it is said in this way. As it is said in the sutra itself: "Thus, the heap of suffering, the tree of suffering, without an agent and a nourisher, only appears to be accomplished, one thinks in this way. For the agent to appear."
