Having abandoned speech, Sentient beings in hell experience unbearable suffering. Although they seek improper happiness, Hundreds of sufferings will be experienced even by children. Whosoever, with wisdom that has not understood, Thoroughly understands the doctrine that benefits the world, Having completely abandoned it like an old snake skin, Will transcend all existence and attain peace. All these dharmas are devoid of inherent existence, Emptiness, signlessness, is ultimate truth. Whoever hears this and generates joy, Will attain unsurpassed enlightenment. Victorious One, you see the aggregates as empty. The elements and sense bases are also seen in the same way. The city of the senses is devoid of signs. All of this, O Sage, you see in the same way. Thus it was spoken. The condensed meaning of this sutra is to be understood in two ways: Generally teaching the two truths, and Elaborately explaining the nature of each separately. The first is one verse, beginning with "Knower of the world." In the second, there is an extensive explanation of the conventional truth, with three parts: The need to teach the conventional truth, The nature of the conventional truth to be taught, and The faults of attachment to it. The first is one verse, beginning with "By whom the Sugata." In the second, there is what is taught and from what cause it is taught. The first is from "Of the assembly of sentient beings" up to "Unequaled One." The second is the two lines, "Having understood the conventional truth with wisdom." In the faults of attachment to the conventional truth, there are two: The faults of engaging in worldly dharmas, and The faults of abandoning transcendental dharmas. The first is from "Rejoicing in this" up to "Of the eight diseases." The second is from "To that conventional" up to "Hundreds of sufferings." In the second, the extensive explanation of the ultimate truth, there are also: The need to teach the ultimate truth, The nature of the ultimate truth to be taught, and The benefits of having faith in it, and The cause from which it is taught. The first is one verse, beginning with "Benefiting the world." The second is the two lines, "All these dharmas." The third is the two lines, "Whoever hears." The fourth is "Victorious One, you"

These are all single-verse stanzas. Here it is said: If you say that we are very independent, then we will not tolerate you either. If you claim to be skilled only in refuting others' positions, and eliminate the nature of others because it is unreasonable, then now I will eliminate the conventional truths you assert, such as non-origination from self, because it is unreasonable. Just as you believe in the reality of other-dependence, I also do not accept conventional truth. For the sake of the result, these are actually non-existent, but are said to exist; I say this in front of the world. Just as you are displeased when other-dependence is refuted with the reasoning mentioned earlier, we are not displeased by refuting conventional truth. Just as you freely believe that the nature of other-dependence is free from all elaborations and is the reality realized by the wisdom of the noble ones, we Madhyamikas do not accept that conventional truth is established independently. Then how do we accept conventional truth? Because the result of worldly appearances is also needed. These conventional truths are actually non-existent, but they exist through the way of designation; I say this in front of the world, and then I say it again, because that is the method of dispelling it. Therefore, the Blessed One said: The world argues with me, but I do not argue with the world. What the world believes to exist, I also believe to exist. What the world believes not to exist, I also believe not to exist. If these conventional truths do not exist for the Arhats who have abandoned the aggregates and entered into peace, if they do not exist in the world either, then I would not say that this is like existing in the world. Just as the Arhats who have completely abandoned the remaining aggregates and entered into peaceful Nirvana do not have conventional truth in any way, if it does not exist in the world either, then like the aggregates of the Arhats, this conventional truth in the world's reputation
