No. Similarly, the other faculties should also be understood in this way. Thus, having shown that there are no faculties different from consciousness, in order to show that objects such as form are also not different from consciousness, it is said: Here, the consciousness arising from the faculties, without an external object of apprehension, from its own seed, not realizing that the nature of appearing as blue etc. arises, beings mentally accept the external as the object of apprehension. This means that the consciousness arising from the faculties such as the eye does not depend on an external object of apprehension, but from its own seed that has been transmitted from beginningless time, the nature of appearing as blue etc. arises, but worldly beings do not understand this, and think that what appears to consciousness is an external object of apprehension. In this way, there is no external reality that exists outside of consciousness. Another way of saying it is: In a dream, there is no other object of form, from the maturation of one's own power, the mind with its appearance, how does it arise, just like that in waking also, without an external, is there mind? Just as in a dream there are no external objects of form etc., but from the maturation of the power corresponding to oneself, the mind with the appearance of form etc. in the waking state arises. Then, in the waking state, is there no external object, but only the consciousness of mind? That is not so. For example, if there are no eyes, how does the mind of appearing blue etc. arise in a dream? Similarly, if there is no eye faculty, why would the mind of the blind not arise here from the maturation of one's own seed? Just as without eyes and form, but in a dream, because one's own habitual tendencies are completely matured, the mind that appears as blue etc. arises, corresponding to the eye consciousness in the waking state. Similarly, in this waking state, why would the mind of appearing blue etc. not arise in the blind from the complete maturation of one's own seed? Because it is similar to the state of sleep and the state of having no eyes. If according to your view, the power of the sixth consciousness in a dream has matured, but it is not present in waking. If according to your view, the absence of eyes itself is the cause of such knowledge, then what is it? It is that the power of the consciousness of mind in a dream has completely matured, and in a dream there is also the condition of sleep.

If, like that, the power of the sixth consciousness has matured, but it is not present in the waking state, then there will be no fault as stated above. If the maturation of the sixth power is not here, then why can't it be said that there is no time for dreaming? If one speaks like that with mere words without any proof, then our words can also say that just as the power of the sixth is not matured in the waking state, why can't it be said that there is no time for dreaming? If the condition that makes such power mature is the presence or absence of sleep, haven't we said that before? Although it has been said, it is not reasonable. Just as the absence of eyes is not its cause, sleep is also not the cause in dreams. Just as in the waking state of the eyeless, for the blind, the manifestation of the consciousness of appearing blue, etc., is not the cause of maturing the power of consciousness. In dreams, sleep is also not the cause of maturing the power of such consciousness, because both of these states are the same as being without eyes. Then, how do the blind generate the consciousness of clearly seeing blue, etc., in dreams? Because they have no eyes. At that time, due to the condition of sleep, eyes, form, and eye consciousness, which are of false nature, arise, so there is no fault. Then, why doesn't it happen in the waking state? Because there is no condition of sleep. Then, just as the absence of eyes is not the cause of false objects in the waking state, sleep is also not the cause of these in dreams, this is not related. Because in the waking state, it has never been seen that the eyeless generate any true or false consciousness of clearly seeing blue, etc., and for those who have the consciousness of clearly seeing blue, etc., the name of having eyes is given. In dreams, because the consciousness of clearly seeing blue, etc., is experienced, it must be admitted that there are eyes and eye consciousness. The cause of such false sense is sleep, because no other cause is observed. Because it is so, therefore, in dreams also, that real eye should be admitted as the cause of the realization of false objects. Therefore, in dreams also, the eye of false objects or nature is of false nature.
